I was thinking about taking the plunge and was reading up on RRA's upcoming 458 SOCOM.  On the Teppo Jutsu site, they say the 458 is OK for suppression but that there are also better calibers for suppression.  So what would that be?  Does the 300 Whisper make for a better suppressed round due to the smaller bore?  My requirements would be semi auto rifle good out to 100 yards or so.

ETA:  I guess it's kind of hard to make out what I was asking I'll just pose the following questions:

1)  What round do you feel makes for the best suppressed weapon?  "Best" meaning it doesn't need to take down cape buffalo but effective out to 100 yeards while capable of being suppressed enough to shoot without hearning protection.

2)  What platform would be best?  Tromix AR-15?  Other?

3)  How well do 45 carbines work or suppression?  I know range won't be good but are they much quieter than say 300 whispers?

9mm?

IMHO
There's two things to consider.  Muzzle blast and sonic crack of the bullet itself.  9mm can stay subsonic <1050  so it will be quieter than 223

Quoted:
Smaller calibers are easier to suppress.  My favorite caliber to suppress is 22LR.  My .308 suppressed is my second favorite.

Do you have any problems getting subsonic 308 to cycle throuh your rifle?
