I was recently reminded that I screwed up my #666 post, so in an effort to redeem myself, here's post 696.

My S&W Model 696 .44 Spl.:

(that last one is my wife... she thinks it belongs to her)

Have none of you people ever heard of a camera timer?

The only thing to flame is the finger on the trigger.  I doubt he is holding the camera.

Nice gun, but thanks for sparing us the 666 post. They've been getting really stupid lately.

I thought you were going to talk about Michigan's I-696, AKA the Midwest's Autobahn.

Nice wheelgun though.

Camera could be on a tripod with a timer.  I've taken pics that way before so I could point guns at the camera.

Thank you.

As for the trigger finger, it would have looked pretty lame if it wasn't on the trigger, at least in this case. I guess I was risking an expensive camera by doing this. At any rate, the hammer was down, and I've never seen one go off by itself anyway, except on TV.

She used this photo (or a variation of it) as an avatar on another site one time, and she got comments like, "That photo really scares me!"

You could also point the gun at a mirror for the last pic.

I need one of those, a 696 that is.

My Model 24 needs a shiny little brother.

Man, ever since I held one I really want one of those 357 7-shot 686's.  That thing was awesome.

Officer: "Ok...no problem."

I'd be more worried about the one to the right that would swing into alignment with the hammer as the trigger is pulled!  Assuming the hammer is still down and not cocked, of course...

ETA:  forgot to hit the quote button.  I was referring to the post where they guy mentioned being able to see the bullet in the chamber!

Right. I must remember to NEVER point a loaded gun at a camera. What if it just "went off?" The camera could have been RUINED!

FWIW, the photo was taken with finger on trigger ON PURPOSE. That's the way I wanted it to come out. I did it in the safest way possible... the hammer was not cocked (why would it be?) and I am sure that my wife (who is a shooter) has enough self-control that she would never have pulled the DA trigger and shot my camera, which WAS mounted on a tripod and was taken using the timer. It did take a few trys to get it right, though.

yeah,  don't worry about the naysayers.  they have a hard time understanding that someone could take a picture like that safely.  People who understand the rudiments of gun safety and basic camera technology understand.

But its probably a good thing to let people know that how it was taken as some people like to assume the worst about gun owners.

nice pic.
