How do you answer that? Keep it one sentance long, I don't want to give them a speech, just an answer. I have no idea. I normally say, "Just in case I need one" |
Most people I know don't know that I carry
So I never get asked, and the people that do know also carry |
"Because I will allow no man or any govemnment entity to take responsibility for the safety of myself or my family nor will I allow them to interfere with my ability do to so."
That about sums it up for me. CMOS |
Well shit, that'd make me look kind of stupid. Thanks for your contribution. For the rest of us who don't have the ability to search the general forum, assume that I'm not walking around showing everybody my pistol, and it's just a family member of something. |
Exactly. What they don't know won't hurt YOU. |
I always give the same short speech: "A person is more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than have a house fire. But I have smoke detectors and fire extinguishers."
Why does it matter why I carry a gun when you are speaking to your family? I carry it for many reasons - personal protection. Protect my family. It's a civic duty. Take your pic |
Because "shall not be infringed" isn't a vauge statement to me.
Because if I am somwhere and someone needs to be shot I dont want to have to call 911 on my cellphone and wait 5-10mins for a policeman to arrive.
"Just in case."
Typical response "In case of what?" "Zombies" Usually they either laugh or look at me like I'm insane. Either way they stop talking to me which is exactly what I want. |
Because I need a balance for the spare ammo I carry on my belt.
Because when the world is a cold place, you have to pack your own heat.
Or at least, that is what I will say when I jump ship from the godforsaken PRMd. (no CCW) |
"Because I can't carry a rocket launcher."
"Because bad people do bad things to good people." "I hate rats." |
I only wish I could carry.
But if I could, my response would be something like: If someone threatened your loved ones with deadly force, would you question them to death, or shoot them? It is funny how people change their tunes when you pose a situation where they realize the gun might not be only for your own protection. |
Cause I haven't been able to get a concealed hammer license...and baseball bats aren't very concealable...
When they ask "Why do you carry a gun to the grocery? Are you expecting a shootout today?"
I reply "Why do you have a spare tire in your car??? Are you expecting a flat today?" |
I answer with a question. "Why do you carry a spare tire? I havent used one in years, but you just might need one." Damnit Ed thats my line!
I go on to explain that a guy I worked with (Jason Schmalenberger) was stabbed to death for no real reason. Had he been carrying he would be alive today.Jason's Story The woman and children are alone because he was unarmed. |
Because it's solely my responsibility to protect myself. It's the same reason I keep fire extinguishers all over the place.
more and more just because i can. place formerly i would have live aren't considered because of gun laws or other.
It beats draging it around behind you.
Seriously though, being from the PRMD I wish I could get a carry permit for the just in case reason. |
i just tell them what they want to hear:
I am a violent person by nature, and carrying a gun makes my penis bigger" it is impossible to rationalize with stupid sheeple, so i dont even try |
...spiders too... Why does a dog... well you know why. |
"Because neither the US government nor the Commenwealth of Virginia has provided me with a personal security detail."
Uh, "It's better to have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it."
+1 |
Because I don't get a memo telling me when bad things are going to happen to me.
"You wait on the cops to get here while this here bad guy hurts/kidnaps/kills you--i'll draw down"
I rest my case. He didn't get his morning danger memo and now he's dead. |
Since I live in Illinois, I would answer 'I'm not carrying a gun. It's illegal'.
If I could carry a gun, my answer would be 'Because I can'. |
