I had one of the best steaks in my life last night, porterhouse, and only got about a third of the way through it before I could eat no more, it was HURGE.  I had it rapped up and set it aside.  I ended up leaving it at the restaurant.

$40 bucks......straight from the packer.  Its vacuum packed.  And beats the hell outta the store price.   I checked the local grocer for shits and grins........going price on a (3) pack of similar sized rib-eye steaks was almost $20 dollars.  Not bad considering I got 19 decent steaks, and some 10 breakfast sized steaks.

Actually its a butcher shop in South Houston.
Should have been more clear.  Buying in bulk is ALWAYS better.
We hit this place at least once a month.

Buy a small chest freezer and start doing the math.  You can save $$$ on your food if you just get a little creative and have a plan.

+1 on the buy in bulk.

But you need to invest about $125 bucks in a nice vacuum package set-up. They last forever and really help maintain the quality of anything you toss in your freezer.

I'd like to get one of those.  We took some Ribeye Rolls camping one time.  They had been vaccum packed by shamrock.  The hard frozen ones thawed just in time for day two in the sticks!

No leakage and the steaks were scrumptious!

A raw uncooked chunk of meat, is no dinner pic.

Would it have killed you to snap the photo when the meal was actually ready?

Never submitted a dinner pic.

There's no rule that says you can only comment if you've submitted one yourself.

What's next...snapping shots of food on the shelf in a supermarket before you even buy it?

You following along yet?

Super.

ETA: Hey Ziti...here's my pic...use your imagination and then give me a 10 for a great dinner pic.

Are you boo-hooing over my widdle dinner pic comment? Dry those silly little tears....it's going to be o-tay....really.

A guy posts a picture of RAW MEAT and it somehow qualifies for a dinner pick? Not to me it doesn't. Get over it Sally, the photos are posted to judge...which I did. -6......and that was generous.

Are you always this emotional?

No only once a month, or when a guy add's content to a site, which I am sure you have done with your high post count...and then people crap on him. Like I said, thanks for what you bring....

Maybe you can post a link to the hard and fast COC rules of a dinner pic.

Hey, I don't doubt the final product was a good, solid, meaty "10"....but we never got to see the dinner, just one of the ingredients.

Lets put it this way....if ARFCOM tradition was "Raw Meat Pics"....you'd get a 10.

If you actually need to be told what a "dinner pic" should look like, you're A) In the wrong thread and B) Not in a position to whine about my comments.

Here's a hint. Shhhhh....this is JUST for you.

It needs to be, bare minimum, a photo of a prepared dinner. Cooked, served and ready to eat.

Now take a peek at the photo on the top of this thread....go on...have a look. Atta boy! Now you're learnin'!

I've seen those vaccuum machines at Big Lots for about $30 and I've been tempted to grab one.  It's an off-brand, but I wonder if it'd be just as good.  Might be narrower, though. Not sure.

I would spend the extra and get a name brand.I use the shit out of mine, everything from food, ammo, camping supplies, you name it.

I always buy meat in bulk 1/2 hog 1/4 beef but I am gonna do a couple of whole ribeyes like this guy did for next spring/summer so I have extra steaks on hand for get togethers etc.
