i went through 2 of the cheap motorola headsets that use AAA batteries. both died within about 60 days. volume just faded out to nothing. I sucked it up and bought a jabra bt 500. rechargable off a usb port and i love it. it sits behind not on the ear so it does fly off each time you turn your head. Conversations a crisp and clear.

The distance on none of them have been as described. i get about 15 feet or so range out the jabra and it has been the best of the bunch i have had. the motorola's would do about 3-5 on a good day. at times i'd actually have to hold the phone within a foot or so of the headset to be useable.

I have Verizon and recently upgraded to this setup, and it works great for me.  The H500 is a slightly older headset (lifecycles of these things are about 6 months it seems) but still widely available.  It uses an internal LIon rechargable battery, and I've not run it down in a day yet.  Bluetooth setup with the phone and headset took about 20 seconds.

The phone is fantastic, but a few of the best features are disabled by Verizon (like virtually all Verizon phones) so that you have to use their pay services.  I've hacked my phone to reenable them (Bluetooth OBEX profile to synch with Outlook via Bluetooth, enabled file transfers of pics, ringtones, mp3s, etc. via both USB cable and Bluetooth, etc.).  With just a bit of work, I now have a fully-featured phone that works great.

I did have a problem with getting the phone to work with Bluetooth on my PC at first, as I hadn't done the research.  I bought a USB Bluetooth adapter that uses drivers from BlueSoleil, one of the two main providers of Bluetooth drivers.  The problem is that Motorola Phone Tools doesn't work with these well or at all, and I wasted a couple of hours trying.  Some research revealed that you want a Bluetooth adapter that uses the Widcomm drivers.  I ended up exchanging my original BT USB adapter for an IOMagic-brand adapter that uses the Widcomm drivers, and had things up and running quickly and easily after that.

Now I can synch my phone or copy stuff (like MP3s) to and from it while it is still in the holster on my belt.  I just launch MPT and it establishes a Bluetooth link to the phone, and away I go.

Another vote for the h700. That is what I have paired up with my RAZR. Long battery life too.

Go with the RAZR. I have had many phones in my life. Go thru at least 1 different a year since 97. This is by far the best phone I have had as far as features go.

i bought a moto v330. according to motorola it's the same guts as the razor just a bit bigger and with a useable keypad . i almost bought a razor but this was 175.00 cheaper.

for the record before i bought this motorola i went through 2 samsung phones within about a 6 month period. both were junk.

Get one that is made by the same manufacturer as your phone.  Nothing sucks worse than having to have TWO different chargers for your phone and headset.

Me?  I'm using a Treo 650 and a Treo headset.  It works damn fine.
