the only issues i can think "might" be valid is tracked vehicles tend to shred roads. other than that bullshit emmisions regulations.

I can see banning tracked vechicals - how often do the Marines or army move their tanks down the roads on tracks? Wheeled ones are welcome so long as they meet safety requirements - lights and indicators. I doubt some guy driving an armored car is going to be any more dangerous than the 75% of the morons driving down the road already. He might actually be able to clean the gene pool a bit at the same time.
ETA: Major Surplus is a good Los Angeles source for such things and they've sold everything from 100 year old horse drawn military supply wagons to the ever popular mules. There's a guy in my town with an armored car - it's a little thing actually - that the guy drives around on the side streets. I don't think it's highway legal as it probably doesn't get up to 50 mph even. |

If terrorism is the reason, I just can't grsp the concept of being afraid of antique 45mph vehicles, even if armored, when new mfg 100mph Suburbans and other vehicles are available (I didn't say cheap) and NOT regulated.

No restrictions here that I know of, several friends own everything from a Unimog to a surplus Marine Corps 5 ton. Deuce's are cheap and common.
My buddy licensed his Unimog as a "Mercedes convertible"

I'm looking to get a 2 1/2 ton or a 5 ton one of these days.
This bullshit better not start coming down the pike. The 6x6 will be even more definite a thing if I can get into making biodiesel to supplent fuel. I'm hoping to have 2-3 diesel vehicles within the next 3-4 years. |

Depends on the MV. tracked vehicles don't do roads much good. Many wheeled vehicles don't meet current or past safety or equipment standards. but most shouldn't be a problem.
Now in some states yo0u can get waivers for vehicles that don't meet equipment or safety standards. Then again it may be that Kansas just heard about the guy that flew his Mig into the Farrels. |
