clicky
We must ensure this doesn't come to pass. (edit: changed headline from "Should" control to "Could" control... for more correctness) |
why cant the third party guys control congress in 06?
edit: oh yeah because everyone is hung up on the two party bullshit |
Beat me to it. What is the point of having a bunch of guys with an (R) behind their name if they don't aren't conservatives? |
Because there's something even worse than that: a Democrat-majority Congress. Unless you like the idea of flushing billions down the toilet on feel-good social programs that are utterly ineffective. |
Those are some disturbing results.
Of course, it all means fuck all until the actual elections. Didn't we also KNOW that Kerry was going to win the election in '04 and that the dems were going to kill us in '02. How the fuck the democrats are better on taxes than the republicans is nothing more than the "Tax breaks for the rich" we keep hearing about. Of course, to the democrats, anyone who pays taxes is rich. |
which seems to be what we are doing now with centrist/lefty republicans. |
I agree guys... But let's face it. Anyone who isn't in one of the two major parties in America has an extremely low likelihood of getting elected.
It's a de facto two party system. And with how we got burned with Perot in '92, it's no surprise. |
The most disturbing thing is that the Democrats probably would have been more fiscally responsible than our current administration. |
No, it's nothing more than the fact that Bush is cutting taxes, increasing spending and pumping up the deficit. Democrats have America convinced that what we need to do is increase taxes to support the spending increases and in part they are right. |
BS! both parties have abandaned fiscal responsibility and the hope of smaller limited government. It's down to a choice of bad and worse. I vote Republican because I consider them the lesser of two evils. ...dreaming of the day when a Republican President will actually stand and deliver on traditional Republican values... |
Got something to actually say? If you pay any attention to Bush he throws out billions like nobody's business. Stuff we used to chastise the Dems for.
These things almost never translate to actual elections. Everyone "hates" Congress but thinks that "their" Congressman is one of the good guys. Public feels the same about pork. Every project in their district is the "exception." Congressional elections are rarely about voting for the party, or trying to check a President, which is why 1994 was so significant because it was one of the few times that it actually did happen.
It is, however, a bad cycle for the Republicans in the Senate because they have more vulnerable seats up for election than do the Demonrats, but there is little to no chance for a change in the House. |
That's why we need to support Sheenan in her bid to oust Sweinstein! Split the vote! |
Yeah, right. Hey, yoohoo, there is a war on. |
You really believe that? bwahahahhahahha. They would have doubled taxes and quadruppled spending. The last two times the democrats controlled everything was Jimmy Carter and the 1st two years of clinton. What about those periods screamed fiscal responsibility? |
If you pay any attention, you would know there is a war on. |
Yeah we have two wars going on and neither focus on the people that actually have the nukes.
Look at it this way. If the majority has D next to their name, you will have a new and more encompassing AWB. That is a simple fact. It will happen if the D's get both houses of congress in 06. All other issues asside. Your AR will be illegal, probably with no Grandfather clause and no silly cosmetics exceptions. They will simply outlaw any gun that holds or can be adapted to hold more than 10 rounds.
And's that's the fucking mantra that will keep us in a two party system stuck between choosing the same cocksucker with a different party affiliation. "Remember Perot". Fuck Perot...and fuck Bush I! If he had been a decent president to start with he would have been able to defeat Clinton and Perot both. Bush I raised taxes, restricted firearms imports, increased the UN's influence over the US, stuck our nose into every third world conflict he could find and damn near tanked the economy. The only thing that he did right was winning the first Gulf War. Aside from that the Bush I years sucked. |
No they aren't. More money = more power in the form of their social welfare programs Keeping the .gov lean doesn't leave any money on the table for the opposition. This is a very, very old GOP strategy. |
and a lot of the spending is non-war related. |
If the dummycrats regain control of Congress this year, it shows they have not been paying attention to the ranting and raving on the part of the left. Coretta King's funeral is a perfect example.
Right. You must be some kind of expert. |
What does the war have to do with the Medicade prescription drug handout, $15 billion to fight AIDS in Africa and completely forgiving all of the war debt for what will eventually become one of the richest nations in the world (Iraq)? |
Face it, how you feel about gays, abortions, and guns can pretty much determine which camp to put you in. Fiscal responsibility does not exist in either party anymore.
Oh yeah...the Republicans are keeping .gov lean. |
What conflicts did we stick our nose in? How did he increase the UN's influence over the US? How did he "damn near" tank the economy? Don't forget, it was a dummycrat controlled Congress. |
Because the leaders of the third parties are incompetent ideologues who have no clue how to raise money or win elections? |
I hate both parties, but lets face it...the dems are going to try to take our guns. Fuck them. Things are finally going right, they can NOT be allowed to roll back the clock.
No more than has been before. The increases are all military related. |
All that money to New Orleans was for the war? All the money for AIDS (an entirely preventable disease) was for the war? Like the owl says: O RLY? |
Yeah, let's not take care of our seniors or fight one of the deadliest diseases to ever exist. When did we forgive the war debt for Iraq? BTW, it's Medicaid. |
unfortunately not all, that medicare/aid prescription plan and the foreign aid is a real let down. granted a dem would have done the same and probably on a larger and more expensive scale, but still.... |
Talk about selfish! Yeah, let's not do anything about anything, just let it all go to hell. Now you are an expert on AIDS?????????? |
Well, shit. I am hearing liberals complain that we are cutting seniors off from the drugs. Which is it? |
I say GOOD! Now we can get down to it, and quit having to pussy foot around. |
Sounds like the excuses Dems use for their social programs. Are you sure you're a Republican? |
Are you sure you have a clue? Never claimed to be a Republican, but sure as hell will never vote for a Dem. No, it does not sound like the excuse the dummycrats make. Nice try to cover your left leanings, but it failed. It's one thing to throw away money on people who will never amount to anything, it's another to do something about things that need to be done. If you don't think that seniors have earned the right to some help, then you are, as I said, selfish. |
Bullfucking shit. I am sick of people who seem to think we should just toss aside our seniors citizens who have worked most of their lives. Duh, AIDS is not just restricted to Africa. Like I said, fucking SELFISH! |
Fixed, mine's a two faced, Bible thumping twit. And it's no better at the State level. Yesterday I got a slick mailer from my State Senator touting his support for a No gay marriage bill. Eftard knocked up his secretary and his wife divorced him. MEANWHILE, a good anti-Eminent Domain bill languishes in the AL Senate. Son of a bitch has been in office 30+ years and will probably die there. |
the exact same thing can be said of either party anymore. |
I dont see why I should unwillingly pay for people who didnt take care of themselves by putting money aside for retirement. the foreign aid I was referring to was the 15 billion for controlling aids in africa. screw them, I dont care if they all die of aids. if they are too stupid to control it on their own, too bad. it isnt that hard, they dont want to or they follow stupid religious leaders who tell them not to control it. does that make me selfish? yes, but it is my money that is being stolen from me in order to make others feel good by "saving" mother africa and to give handouts. |
Again, seniors have worked all their lives. Have you priced meds lately? Lots of people have gotten AIDS quite accidentally, including in hospitals. You are just showing that you are extremely selfish and clueless on AIDS. |
Yes, wanting the government to be smaller and spend less money. A true mark of my 'left leanings'. |
Brilliant. You have never seen combat, have you? You haven't given much thought to what you just said. If we erupted into a civil war, as some of you seem to long for, every fucking third world shithole would be in here trying to get their share of the pie. Not only would the US cease to exist, but life in what used to be the US would be total anarchy. |
It is not a matter of you wanting the government to be smaller, you really don't care. You are just extremely selfish. All one has to do is read your posts to figure out your leftist ideals. You have just heard people talk about a smaller government and figured you would use that to try to fit in. |
Africa is a rat hole. Any money there might as well be shredded. Of course you could say the same about the 200B pissed away on the "Secure Flight" fiasco. All Africa needs is a sharp panga in every hand. |
Larry, you are being pretty naive. Most meds are bullshit and didn't even exist 15 years ago. Diet and exercise are the best medicine out there, but that is free, so no one is interested. 99% of AIDS in contracted in the United States through sex and drugs. Money for AIDS in africa is a waste because the money is for meds that keep them alive and SPREADING the disease. Keeping people alive who have an incurable, contractable disease is the worst thing to do. Sorry, but until there is a cure, isolate and let nature take its course. I will say that I will support the giving of AIDS medication to any man willing to be castrated. I can't think of a means that would stop a woman from spreading the disease, so they are kinda excluded from the Sylvan plan. Lifes a bitch, but a program to spread aids seems, to me, a bad idea. Could you explain how AIDS medications currently helps? |
