Since George Takei ("Mr. Sulu") did come out of the closet,  it's not really surprising.    Still disturbing though.

10:23am 29th October 2005

The Actor who played Star Trek's helmsman Hikaru Sulu has revealed he is homosexual.

George Takei, 68, spoke of his sexuality in an interview with a U.S. gay and lesbian magazine.

He played Mr Sulu in the first three series of Star Trek from 1966 and six spin-off movies.

"The world has changed from when I was a young teen feeling ashamed for being gay," he said.

"The issue of gay marriage is now a political issue. That would have been unthinkable when I was young."
