Danish news reports that President Bush personally called the Danish Prime Minister to express his support.

Thank you America!!!

Even if the State Department were pussies, I always knew that George W. was someone who valued loyalty, and wouldn't just leave Denmark hanging.

I'm sorry to post this in a separate thread, but I feel obligated since I had quite harsh words for the U.S. State Department after they condemmed the cartoons last week. (Please don't ban me, EdSr. - this thread is meant to be more of a news update than a thread inviting debate about muslims or cartoons.)

The U.S State Department may as well be a separate country. Their  interests are usually pro-arab no matter what.

State department can shove it up their ass.  Nobody I have talked to thinks anything other than the Danes should be dropping those "extreamists" where they stand.

Yes, a society that rallies to violence over a cartoon is clearly one we should embrace and appologise too.

Anytime you see big windmill farms, they are probably built with Danish technology.  A lot of stuff you consume might have been shipped by Maersk, a giant Danish shipping company.

Or really expensive fine china, silverware, audio equipment - you know, staples like that.

On an everyday level, the things you might run into are pork - primarily ham, bacon and baby-back ribs - as well as cheeses and beer, and also stuff like vodka, lego toys for kids, shoes, etc.  ... oh and of course the butter cookies.

I've got a big tin of Danish butter cookies at home.  Those things are more addictive than crack.

I believe that Danovia is a region within Daneland.

I'm pretty sure that's where the Earl of Hollandaise ruled.

My father likes to bring back that potato vodka or whatever that stuff is when he goes back to the old country from time to time.  I tried it once...didn't seem to have much of a taste, actually. He keeps it in the freezer-served chilled!
