Less chance of the iron sights being rendered ineffective, as opposed to this:

I want to know what happened to the guy holding it at the time.
ETA: I going to take a guess that the weapon was issued to the soldier holding it in the picture and this is a, "Whoa, check this out." pic. |
No iron sight backup? I dont use optics on mine, but most of the ones I see here have a flip up sight backup.
From the way it's mounted I'd guess it had a BUIS, but it was removed for the picture in order to fully show the damage to the EOTech. |
Do we know the eotech was in fact inoperable. One of the supposed advantages of the eotech is that it will still function with broken glass. Now I am not so sure about the completely shredded controls, but hey, you never know.
I think the BUS would have been difficult to use through all that shattered glass as well. Hopefully the Soldier/Marine is not damaged like the rifle was. |
Dear EOTech:
I dropped your crappy sight from a height of two feet onto packed dirt.... |
RRA offers the UTE line of uppers now, a built in standard A2 buis with a rail forward. I plan on purchasing this upper whenever I get enough money to buy an AR. Makes sense to hjave fixed BUIS integral to a carbine. Saves weight too.
My ideal carbine: RRA UTE upper pencil weight LW conversion with rail Pistol Grip style VFG or others EOtech Light Standard M4 stock |

Was doing som practical carbine / pop up targets with a friend of mine this week, and my EoTech batteries died.
DURING one stage of fire. I had iron backups but for speeds sake I went and just placed the target in the center of my EoTech window. Surpirsingly I hit the target about 4" apart at a distance of about 15 yards. |
That is gonna require some explantion, as my EoTechs ROCK. |
Proof-positive EOTechs are not Soldier / Sailor / Airman / Marine-proof.
All you IED / got shot at theorists are probably wrong. My guess is that whoever had this didn't score too well on the gravity-oriented questions on the ASVAB. Or they propped the rifle up against a vehicle that departed out from under it. |
I dont plan on that ever happening to me but that is why I have a BUIS. JUST IN CASE
That's also why you should have a throw lever. Can you imagine trying to see the front site or the target through that mess? Get the Larue riser.
I dont use red dots. Irons all the way for me. I just could not get used to em.
My EoTech red dot is INFINITELY faster in target acquisition for me. Besides I'm getting to the point irons are hard to see. Old eyes. |
Yup! I wonder if Aimpoint, Elcan, and Trijicon sights have as much structural integrity (that is, components not immediately in the path of the bullet don't go flying somewhere). |
That is why you should always wear eye protection when playing airsoft. |
Shill. |
nice paint job on the eothingy though
matches the tan kac rail cover panels I'll bet ya EoTech would like to have that sight back as a conversation piece |
Doesnt look shot to me. Seriously though that "mark" on the left side doesnt even look like a hole. Looks like a dent to me |
it's a chat thing, you wouldn't understand... right Vold? |
Whoever had that Eotech doesn't need iron sights, they need a Priest.
and a new set of underwear if they didn't get hurt |
What, you think I don't own LaRue products or use EOTechs on occasion? |
Go to opictstalk.com and look in the tactical section under eotech saved my life.
It doesn't look like a hole, but it does look like a .30 caliber dent. |
That rifle looks way too dirty for that EOTech to function.
That's the problem. |
Looks like a bullet went through the sight..... I hope the guy who was carrying that rifle bought a lotto ticket, because that was his lucky day. |
No... only more proof nothing is combat proof. |
Dunno how many firearms I have could take a 7.62x39 hit and not look as bad or worse then that. |
