Funny you should ask.  I just picked up 2, 400 rnd WWB cases from Wally World.  I then inventoried all of my ammo (at this location anyway).

Total: 6791 rounds, assorted mostly .45 ACP, .223, 7.62X39 and 9mm.

I'm still 43,209 rounds short of my ideal "on hand" goal (50K)

Exactly one hundred rounds of 9mm...and I don't own a 9mm.

Nowhere enough to satisfy me.

Of course I could have 5 times the amount of ammo that Ammoman has and it might not be enough.

The real question, how many times a week is this same topic discussed?

I got about 200 of 7.62, 200 or so .45 ACP, 6 or 7 rounds of 5.56 (M855), and about 40 .40s left.

Best guess at the moment:

400 rounds of .30-06
300 rounds of .223 (Lots of brass & bullets, but I'm behind on loading)
300 rounds of .45 ACP (ditto)
50 rounds of .45LC
300 rounds of .357
200 rounds of .38
300 rounds of 9x18
500+ rounds of .22LR
60 rounds of 6.5x55
280 rounds of 8mm
50 rounds of 12 gauge
50 rounds of .303

Let's see, that's (carry the one...) 2,490 rounds. Give or take a hundred.
Link Posted: 2/3/2006 9:06:14 AM EDT
[#39]
2200 rounds of 7.62x51mm
3500 rounds of 7.62x39mm
6500 rounds of 5.56x45mm
900 rounds of 12 gauge
3000 rounds of 9x19mm
450 rounds of .32ACP
8500 rounds of .22LR

25,050* ** total

*This does not include loaded mags, which would probably be another 2000 rounds or so.

**This alos does not include ammo for which I do not have guns, such as 8mm Mauser, 10mm auto, .380 ACP, and .22WMR.

When I have in excess of 10k of black hills match each for .308 (175 gr.) and .223 (77 gr.), then Ill have enough.  I also need about 10k of Winchester Ranger SXT each in .45 ACP (230 gr) and .40S&W (180 gr), then Ill have what I want.  After that I can buy ammo to shoot.

It would be measured in the 10s of thousands.

Let's put it this way:  Until five years ago, I stored it in the walk-in closet upstairs off the master bedroom.  About that time I grew concerned that the weight of the safe it was in (laying down on its side) and the nearby ammo cans would overcome the load-carrying capacity of the floor joists.

I didn't want any guests waking up (or not) to a rude surprise landing in their laps while they slept in the downstairs bedroom.

As such, I took much of the GP ammo out to the garage.

200 or so of 9mm, and 200 or so of .45.  About 550 or so of 7.62x54mm.  About 1200 7.62x39mm.  Around 400 .223 and about 200 12 gauge shotgun shells (50 or so buckshot, the rest birdshot).
