I just got a shitload of memory, and am ready to put a few select CD's onto my hard drive.

Whats the best software to rip with?

One platform for storage better than another??

Any things you learned the hard way that I can use your experience from??

Thanks!

You got more memory? Or a bigger hard drive.

The Windows Media Player 10 works fine for me.

For ripping, I use Music Match but remember, it  is a resource hog.

I used FreeRIP, when I did mine.

Windows Media Player 10

or

iTunes for PC

iTunes can import in WAV, AIFF (Red Book CD), AAC (an Apple iTunes code), MP3 and Apple Lossless and burn in MP3 or Audio CD.  Pretty easy to print CD inserts too with the original art.

If you want high quality, get EAC (exact audio copy www.exactaudiocopy.org/ ) and encode to mp3s using LAME ( lame.sourceforge.net/).

+1

I would use Ogg Vorbis personally, but LAME is good for MP3s.  There's also FLAC if you want no loss in quality at all.

Exact Audio Copy.  100% free, you can encode to just about any format you want, and it rips flawlessly.

You might have to RTFM, though.

I use cd-ex & never had an issue with it.
