The original one from Japan is a great show.
The new Iron Chef America is kinda stupid.

Watch it every now and then.  I wish they would subtitle it instead of dubbing.  The translations are accurate while you can hear the original, but I could relearn my japanese better if they quit dubbing.  They do bring about lots of new ideas instead of the same old same old like some shows do....

I get a kick out of watching them eat some of that crap. I think the grilled tennisball sized tuna eyeballs was the best. And I want to know if crab brains is a garnish or an ingredient.

I saw an episode of Iron Chef while in Japan many years ago and the secret ingredient was freshwater turtles.  Thats live turtles of all different sizes.  They had to kill them to cook it so it was kinda gross for the general public.  That episode was never shown in the US... not that I'm aware of anyway.  I know there are some other episodes that are not shown here due to the ingredient... like pig balls, etc.

I am amazed at some of the things they use.

+1

Those guys are truly impressive. Some of the desserts they make out of things you wouldn't consider in a millions years to be something you could use as a dessert!

Never had uni ice cream, but I like it sushi style
BTW only the eggs of the uni are used.

I have never gotten into uni. I have tried it several times with people that like it and have told me it was exceptionally good that day. Always made me gag. Like just about every other kind of uni.

I did have wasabi ice cream while I was in Japan. I liked that.
