MPD said there was "no stolen" report on the pistol and they don't have any owner info.  They said they will keep a record of it and returned it to me.  They said if no one claims it or reports it stolen in the next 30 days, I get keep it.  Any ideas on its value???

Here are pics:

Nice!

What caliber?  As for it's worth... I'd guess it's worth a little more than what you paid for it.

Not my kind of thing, but it's a piece of history.  I'd wait 30 days to be sure the owner doesn't come back for it and then sell it.  It'd probably get you enough for a brand new... something.  MJD

Wow! You're a lucky man. That's beautiful. What does the writing on the barrel say? Are there any numbers or anything on it denoting caliber or anything? Are you going to sell it after you find out what it is and its value?

Some people have all the luck.

It's trash, throw it away!
Nice old piece you got there.  I bet some old ladies husband died and she just tossed it out...  Remember this guys if your woman doesn't like guns!!!

I really don't think someone would intentionally throw a nice pistol away.  It probably was in a drawer that was getting thrown away because they were getting new furniture.  They probably forgot the pistol was in the drawer and they just tossed the whole thing out.  Rare find... that was my lucky day !!!

Nice find!  A real piece of history and it's probably got a couple more centuries of life in it if you take care of it!

I just hope it wasn't a family heirloom that someone is going to be very very sad about losing by mistake...

Great find.
That looks similar to my Colt model 1906 45 Colt.
Mine has the 5.5 inch Government bbl. with same blade front sight and notch rear.
