British school bans raising hands

LONDON, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A school in London has banned children from raising their hands in class and teachers from calling on students with their hands raised.

"It is every child's instinct and every teacher's instinct as well because it is ingrained in us," said Andrew Buck, the school's principal.

"Some pupils are jiggling so much to attract the teacher's attention that it sometimes looks as if they need the lavatory, then when it is their turn they often don't know the answer. Boys -- and it is usually boys -- are seeking attention, so they put their hands up before they have had time to think about the question."

Buck said the same children often wave their arms in the air, but when teachers try to involve less adventurous pupils by choosing them instead, it leads to feelings of victimization, the Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

To spare embarrassment of the students who do not know the answer, the school has incorporated a "phone a friend" system, allowing one child to nominate another to take the question instead.

I graduated in 2001 and it took me Basic Traning to shake the school system conditioning. I couldn't even see it untill I was outside looking in.

I think kids need to be insulted by teachers more often. Singled, picked on. Grow some fucking skin on them.

I went through the French Roman Catholic school system in Canada where they had all of the above.

I recently had to interview a new employee for my department. The Big Boss handed me twenty CV's to read. I started reading them and throwing them into the bin in front of her. I handed one CV back to her and said 'employ this one'.

She was pretty shocked and asked me why I binned nineteen so fast and picked that one...

I told here it was simple, it was the only one with no typos and had correct punctuation in the first paragraph.

All twenty CV's were from University graduates...

Now I feel really old...........when I was a kid you got "spared the embarrassment of not knowing the answer"
by studying the material and LEARNING the answer, too bad we didn't have those cellphones back then
