Saddam's Defense Lawyers Storm Out of Courtroom

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Saddam Hussein's trial collapsed into chaos shortly after resuming Sunday, with one defendant dragged out of court and the defense team walking out in protest. The former Iraqi leader was then escorted out after he shouted "down with the Americans" and refused his new court-appointed lawyers.

The new chief judge, Raouf Abdel-Rahman, pressed ahead with the proceedings even after the opening drama, hearing three prosecution witnesses before adjourning the trial after 4 1/2 hours, as he sought to assert tight control over the court.

This asshole is basically running the "show" now. Every time this "circus" opens he gets to mug for the camera again, show how defiant he is, stick his finger at the Judge and say whatever the fuck he wants. WHY THE FUCK IS THIS ASSHOLE EVEN STILL ALIVE TWO YEARS AFTER HE WAS DRAGGED FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND!??

The Nuremburg trials for the major Nazi war criminals started two months after the WWII ended and finished less than a year later. And that was for 24 war criminals! WTF is the hold up with this one shiteating asshole over there?

Here's how the trial should go:

Judge: "Are you Saddam Hussein"

Hussein: "I am Saddam Hussein, President of the Repub<<<BANG!>>>

Judge: "Court adjourned. Baliff, dispose of the body".

I wish I was the judge.

For starters, he would show up in court when summoned, and he would be in chains.

The court knows his cronies are gunning for him and they are just trying to put on a show to delay the proceedings, but they better hurry while the US is still there to protect their useless hides.  Until Hussein is under ground he is a threat.

Ramsey Clark - murdered thousands of great young Americans during the VietNam era.  Friend of Jimma Cartier and the late rotten LBJ.  Hates America more than the typical ACLU POS.  Still breathing free air.  God bless America.  Now let's put our heads down and puke.

And you were expecting what?.....

It is a reflection of the entire mideast.  Had I been there, I would have shot him in the rat hole in which he was found and put the lid back on.

I agree, he should have been exterminated and buried in the hole he was found in. Next time he opens his mouth it should be filled with lead.

Indeed.

This is turning out like the Milosevic trial.

1: I say we have Fat Tony break his legs with baseball bat so he can suffer or put a HP in 'em.
2: If he doesn't want to come to court, anything he's accused of, he can't defend himself so he's guilty.

All this talk of "I would just shoot him" would make us (Americans) seem as bad as him.  Don't let the scum bring us down to his level.

He should be treated like any other criminal who is disrupting court proceedings.  They get warned two or three times, then they get to watch their own court proceeding through a tv monitor form the comfort of their cold, dank cell.  No photographers, no further disruptions.

Why hasn't this happenned yet?

Because it's not a US court! It's overseas, and it's their rules, US law has nothing to do with it at all. He is on trial for killing Iraqis, Kuwaitis, etc., not Americans. They won't throw him out, or anything of that nature.

He is not in the US/American court system.

Me as Judge:

Bailiff, place a dirty gym sock in he defendant's mouth with duct tape over it for the remainder of the trial unless he is being directly questioned, also, place him on "corrective rations" for 90 days. Also, please help the defendant into the front leaning rest position with a nice cactus under his chin. Also, remand the defense team into custody for 30 days as I didn't excuse them.

But I can't imagine that there are no consequences set up for people who are disrupting the court... even in non-American courts.

All this talk of "just shoot him" is bunk.
Yea...thats a great fucking idea.
Then you know what happens?
Iraq is right back where it started.
We are helping to give them the rule of law - something the Middle East has not had for a very long time.
Sometimes people on AR15.com are as childish and impatient as liberals when it comes to the Iraq war.
Doing things the right way takes time.

This isn't doing things right.  This isn't working.  At all.

While "just shooting him now" sucks, it's too bad he had to be taken alive in the first place.

Another dumbass comment.

Okay, as far as U.S. policy is concerned, what other acceptable outcomes are there?  As long as Sadam lives, he will be a threat to the people of Iraq, and an inspiration to those that support him.  Why do you think that we went to so much trouble to prove to the Iraqi people that we had eliminated those sadistic bastard sons of his?  Trial, or no trail, this guy has to take a dirt nap; we're just stating the obvious.

Really?
I'm telling people to chill out, and calm down.
Yes, of course he will be taking a dirt nap.
But by letting the Iraqis run things, and by letting Iraqis execute him, we not only give the new gov't legitimacy, we also let it stand on its own two feet, reducing its dependence on the US.
That's good, because it means we won't have to go back to Iraq.
Once Saddam is executed, you will see the already faltering insurgency fail completly.

I'm sorry, I guess you see the 75 million dollars GW pledged for the TRIAL of SADDAM HUSSEIN as good stewardship of the AMERICAN taxpayers money.

I don't.

Even with the rising cost of 5.56 ammunition, I think we should be able to kill one man for less.  The fact that we are spending this money on a [j/k] "LEGAL" [j/k] system that might just f*ck it up anyway, really makes me feel better.

There is only one possible outcome of this trial that would be acceptable to the interests of the U.S., so let's stop beating around the bush and get on with it.

What's with all the complaining over the "just shoot 'em" comments?

It really does work.

It worked for Bonnie & Clyde, it worked for John Dillinger, it worked for Pablo Escobar, it worked for the concentration camp guards that were shot on-site when they were caught in the final days of WWII in Europe, etc. etc.

We are not dropping to their level. That kind of thinking is hollywood B.S.

Very simple. Take him into the judges chambers, open the back door to the outside and say...Saddam, quick run, your free!...bing,bing,bing two in the back one in the head. ...Breaking news on CNN. "Saddam Hussein shot and killed while attempting to escape from the judges chambers in court today"

Nuff Said!
