Anyone got a link to this years SHOT show in Vegas? I searched around the board and didn't have much luck. I'd really like to take a road trip in Feb, but I don't know the details of the show (tickets, exact location, etc). Also, I'd like to get an idea of how many Arfcommers will be in attendance this year, and where is everyone staying? I've never been, but judging from pics posted here in the past, it looks like a good time.
thanks in advance! --VT |

Its an absolute incredible place to check out if you are into firearms.
check out www.shotshow.org This will get you all the information that you need, be aware though that you either have to be part of the idustry(FFL) or be creative to get tickets. Im staying at Mandoly Bay on Weds and thursday night, then downgrading to Circus Circus on Friday and Sat nights. Better get rooms quick though, there are some places that are selling out and rates are going up a bit |

Thanks Snorkel_Bob, got any ideas how one might creatively find one's way into the show? Any industry folks or FFL's that need a free hand?? I make a mean hamburger (I even use ground beef!). I'm open to ideas here...

I'm definitely going to whatever company Todd Bailey is bringing to SHOT just to heckle him and see if he'll try to sue me over it.
You know I didnt remember about him last year when I went. This year I want to track him down and see what this guys like for my own eyes. Anyone know what booth hes gonna be at? |
I'm arriving Wednesday and leaving Sunday night. Staying at Main Street so I'll see all of you Saturday night for the party Wolfpack's organizing.
Just so happens that I have a Press Pass this year and will be able to take pictures. I'll post some when I get back. If any of you guys would like to meet up to say hello, just stop by AmericanSnipers.org's booth and leave a message. We'll be using it as a home base. |

Im going this year, my brother live in Vegas so I have a place and a ride...

Cyclone- Rest assured that we'll post tons of pics from the show, as well as daily reports, these are all going to be posted over on the ARMORY. For those who want to plan a dinner or getting together during or after the show, we'll post an official SHOT Show thread here in the next few days in order to coordinate (keep in mind we'll be pretty busy trying to cover the show during the day, and posting all the info at night!). We're staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. If there's anything in particular people want to see or hear about, let us know now to make sure we cover it! It's impossible to report on everything in detail, so we're going to focus on a few vendors and products this year, as well as try to give an overall report. Looking forward to seeing some of you there, and filling the rest of you in on what's hot this year... |

I'll arriving on Friday and leaving on Monday, staying at the Bellagio
I know it's short notice...but. Any chance anyone has tickets for the Shot Show? I live in Henderson, NV - next to Las Vegas. I was not smart enough to get the tickets when the were $15. a piece. Now they are $50.

Could someone check out the Schmidt and Bender table and ask them about the reported third generation short dot?
I am really excited to see what Sig is releasing this year. If it was important enough to warrant a special, highly confidential dinner for only Sig Forum members (who apparently were all very impressed), it's important enough for me to get excited about.
I would love to go to a SHOT show someday. Is there ANY way non-business-cronies can get in? |
I've got an ARF dinner set up for anyone that wants to come on Saturday night of the show. It is at 7:30 at inside the Triple 7 brewery at Main Street Station.

What if some of us have kids and just wanna stop on by? |
It's a relatively kid friendly place. The more the merrier, but remember the crowd you're going to be introducing them to. |
It's fine, it's a family place the kids just can't sit at the bar. |
Kids are gonna be bummed then. |

Magpul crew will be at the new Hooters Hotel and Casino. See y'all there.
middle child is too blonde to notice, youngest too young to notice and the oldest well, she attends the shoots, is going to shot and have you seen what she does for fun? What DFD does for entertainment |

Some friends and I will be staying at Hooters! First time at the SHOT show for me. WooHoo!
I will be going Saturday morning through Sunday night and taking the wife also for Valentines Day.
Curious to hear what Armalite has to announce and see the new S&W AR. |
be sure to check out the FN table and see the news on the FS2000...
And glock for their friggin carbine already. |
OK, now I'm thoroughly confused. Were tix available to the public? or is admittance only for industry folks? TIA

You have to be industry-affiliated. Easy enough, IIRC, someone mentioned that a business card is sufficient proof of such affiliation. |
How many years have we been waiting for the Glock carbine? 1995? |
Comin in on thursday night looking to do the show on Fri and Sat then dinner with you guys on Saturday night

The MGI crew will be staying in the MGM Grand.
Our Booth is #23094 in the outdoor tent exhibits. Some people may want to see the new MGI Modular AR15 system, and yes, we will be showing the world's first 308(7.62x51NATO) AR15 system there(part of the MGI Modular system). You read right, that's a real 308 AR15 with quick-change barrels, quick-change magazine wells, and all the bells and whistles. Takes M14 magazines. It also happens to be the world's first fully modular AR15 for many other calibers as well. Many other features too. How did we do it? You'll have to come and see for yourselves! We'll be carousing around visiting the places you will be partying in the evenings! |
You just won the super bowl, what are you going to do? "Go to the SHOT show" |
Isn't there a law enforcement allowance as well? I'm a reserve at a local dept., I don't suppose that could get me in... |
Don't forget to bring your Sharpie marker, so you can draw all over the Ebay computer monitors that they set up at the entrances of the show.
Will do! I'll take some pics for you. |
Too bad it isnt a week later.............I will be in Vegas on my honeymoon and I know my fiance wouldnt mind me fondling all those wonderful guns
Anyone can get in, it's easy. |

Here's the info from their site: "NOTE: Only individuals doing business in the shooting, hunting or outdoor trade or affiliated with the trade may attend the SHOT Show. Attendees may be required to provide additional verification of their trade-related business or affiliation (e.g., FFL or other supporting documentation) prior to or during the show. Individuals should carefully review the show's exhibitor and attendee rules prior to registering. Registration and subsequent admission constitutes full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of all show rules." Usually they require an FFL, or some such documentation. For years, I attended as a "part-time employee" of a friend that has a gun shop and an FFL. This year, I applied for a "Media Badge" basis my internet site and was accepted. All it takes is a little determination. |

So, are your modular receivers compatible with the Cobb modular AR's, or are they an entirely different animal? |
The MGI system is it's "own animal", as you put it.
It's actually an AR15, with modular features, and it uses normally available hi-cap mags from other weapons, and uses standard AR barrels in the quick-change barrel system. AFAIK, the Cobb resembles an AR15, but is really built on its own format, and uses proprietary mags, and has no quick change barrels. I haven't checked recently, so maybe they've done some additional work to their gun. Also, AFAIK the Cobb is still in development, and hasn't been released yet. However, at this time, the MGI system has no capability of using the large magnum calibers, like the big variant of the Cobb has. The MGI is a single platform, and the Cobb is 3 different sized platforms. I'm discussing this to the best of my knowledge, and I can't speak for Cobb or their product. If I'm off base with any of my assessments, I'm open to correction. |

I only got back from SHOT yesterday, and we're still getting our show photos decided. The pics are just some ones that we took of the booth and the new products. I'll get them up as quickly as I can. The new Quick-Change-Barrel(QCB) upper receiver has a much improved railed handguard system on it now, which is not shown in the link to the EE ad below. But, there are photos and discussion of the Modular Lower and "old model" QCB on the link. Link to MGI Modular Lower ad on Equipment Exchange There are also some nice photos and comments on the AR15.com page showing Ed Avila's coverage of the SHOT Show on the Feb 10 photo gallery slide show. The MGI booth is covered in the first 5 pictures in the gallery after the opening photo of the outdoor tent exhibit area. armory.ar15.com/content/features/SHOT/2006/page2.html |

twl,
Will MGI continue to manufacture and offer the "old-style" QCB upper? |
It hasn't been decided at this time if the older style QCB will be continued. We may do a "phase out" over a period of time. Or we may offer the both types for quite a while into the future. We also have some other guns that we are working on for lower priced markets, where a very minimalistic version of the older QCB might fit into that package too. It all comes down to meeting price point targets. We will still have the older ones for at least a couple of months anyway, and if we decide to do parallel production of the both models, then we could keep that going as long as there is demand for the basic older style QCB at the lower cost. If we do decide to discontinue the older style totally, then I'll announce that when the decision is made. |
