I purchased several music CDs that I am trying to copy for myself (original copy for the house; duplicate copy for the car).  My  CD copying program (RecordNow!) says the CD is "copy protected," and will not let me make a copy.here

DISCLAIMER:  the copies are for me, no one else.

Use Linux.

If you have two optical drives, you can download and run Knoppix, and it'll let you suck the tracks off the CDs using cdda2wav.  I've heard that one has some good quality-checking code in it to make sure your drive isn't glitching during the read.

www.dbpoweramp.com/

EDIT: I've NEVER found a CD (from my collection of course), that I could not rip using that software...oh and it's free

Please note: when you ask how to copy a CD, now you really need to post the titles/artists. The reason is because some "mixed media" CD's use one of a few different types of copy protection. There's no way to know which DRM system is used without knowing the title/artist of the CD's in question.

(A 'mixed media" CD is one that will only play music in a regular CD player, but that will play special videos and whatnot when inserted into a computer.)

Is it a Sony computer? RecordNow is what they were using for years as the bundled cd burning program, largely because it would restrict what it would copy
get Nero for your burning software and the above linked to DBpoweramp to rip
