Yeah, i really hate that too. I have the back button on my mouse, if I crackhead clikc it about 4 times as fast as possible I can sometimes beat the auto forward and get out of the website and back to where I was.
Sometimes, sometimes not. Depends how strong my mouse-fu is that day. |

oh we get it, in fact we hate it too. I always do the "if you aren't forwarded in 5 seconds, click here" deal for that reason. |

Try holding down shift (NOT SHTF). and pressing back. Works for me, im on IE. Or try using firefox.

Right-click the back button. It should allow you to select how far back you want to go.

Sometimes you're a few levels deep into a website and you'd rather hit back once than reload the page and find your way back to where you were. |

Try using the arrow next to the back button on most IE browsers
It will open a drop down menu like a favorites menu run your mouse down past the "bad" one, and click It will transport you backward, out of the TRAP
