I was wondering is it leagal to ship a pistol to some one if you break it down into peices.  And can you do it without an FFL?  I would like specifics if possible cause I don't wanna get in trouble for it.

I want to ship a revolver up to Alaska from Nevada.  Thats the basic details.

Nope! Just as the receiver on a rifle is the firearm, the frame of a handgun is a firearm.  It simply doesn't matter if there are other parts attached or not.  The frame or receiver is the firearm according to the law.

Disassembling it will get you nowhere legally since you will need to send that part as well.  You need to go through a FFL.
