Mosin: "You consider it a badge of honor when you cycle 5 rounds without the aid of a 2x4"

The trick to working the bolt on a Mosin is to snap your wrist when you do it.  Makes it much easier.

The Mosin is by far the easiest, cheapest rifle for ARFCOMMERS to say "Get Both!"

After a long day at the range you relax by watching "Red Dawn"
After a long day at the range you relax by watching "Blackhawk Down"
After a long day at the range you relax by visiting the chiropractor watching "Enemy at the Gates"

Fixed that part. Otherwise, outstading!

No, believe me, it was correct the first time, at least if you don't wear a very heavy jacket.

as somewhat proud owner of both a M44 and a tiny one lane tree lined mud floor 25 yard range behind my house i can attest that the amount of debris thrown up and around by the muzzle blast can camo you in branchs, leaves, mud and piece os stone.

AK = You can accessorize your rifle with a new muzzle brake or a nice stock set.

AR = Your rifle's accessories are eight times more valuable than your rifle.

Mosin = Your rifle's accessory is a small tin can with a funny lid, but its buried under an apartment building somewhere in Budapest

Never seen Talvisota--I'll have to check that out (but $45 on amazon? What is it, gold-plated?)

My favorite Mosin moment was at Bulletfest III. There was some kind of metal tank, like a water tank or a great big fire extingusiher downrange that people were plinking at and rocking around a little. One hit with the M44 knocked it over.

Plus you get to wear the shoulder bruise for a couple days. Nothing says "I had a good time at the range" like a nice bruise.

Didn't read the thread, but at a GA shoot a few years ago, we timed mag dumps to see if a newspaper article was correct on how fast an AR bullet-hose could empty a mag. I believe we tested an AR, an AK, and....wait for it...a Mosin WITH bayonet! Even though the Mosin mag held less ammo, it was still the slowest, but it won on 'reach' after the mag was empty. Oh, and the newpaper was WRONG, duh.
I may have pictures from that shoot somewhere.

a bunch of russkies with english accents?
the "showdown at high noon" between zaitsev and the kraut?
shooting a commo wire at a few hundred yards with a PU equipped 91/30 nagant?
butchering "War Of The Rats" in order to make this abomination.

rachel weisz couldnt even make up for these deficiencies.

Recoil often used to relocate shoulders thrown out by the previous shot.

You can bayonet your foe on the other side of the river without leaving the comfort of your hole.

That is fricking AWESOME.

I'm still curious why everyone bitches about the recoil on Mosin-Nagant's though. It's comporable to .30-06, right? So what's the big deal?

Truer words...I have to get me a non-sporterized Mosin now.  I picked up a sporterized one in Tulsa for $75 and hope to get a good deal on one.  Its on my list...
