READ THIS BEFORE VOTING:

Imagine we live in a world where all the domestic arms makers are like lorcins, jennings, or bryco.

They make all sorts of arms - pistols, revolver, shotguns, rifles, EBR's. But they have a very bad reputation for quality and reliability.

Then there are foreign companies that make the same kinds of products, but their quality and reliability are regarded as much, much better. They cost a little more but people pay for the quality.

Would it be unamerican to buy from a foreign gun maker when there are American companies making similar but inferior products?

You buy the best gun.  If you show up with an inferior weapon to a fight and you might lose because of it.

Buy foreign, and if the domestic producers want to stay in business, they'll have to increase quality.

Everybody should only buy foreign goods. Americans suck at everything, there should be no manufacturing in this country at all. All foreign nations are better than us at everything.

You pro- foreign, anti-America types make me sick.

This thread is assinine!

Nice analogy.

HOWEVER, this ASSumes that American made cars are crap, and they aren't.

FWIW - most of my guns are American made - Kimber, Bushmaster, RRA, Browning, Mossberg, Winchester, Kahr, Remington

Do own one Glock, one Beretta and a K98 Mauser.   I think that's about it for foreign

A lot of car buyers would disagree with you on that.

Perception is reality. Right now American car companies have the perception of producing cars the either are of less quality that foreign brands, or are simply what americans don't want to buy.

But let's keep it on guns, ok?

Depends on who you're asking. Pose the same question on hkpro and they'll tell you to buy foreign if possible and avoid the inferior U.S. made parts. On the AR15 board it's just the opposite - any foreign made parts are considered junk. It's interesting to see the contrast between viewpoints from one board to another. Ultimately, we all would like more guns, foreign or domestic.

Being an american means dealing with competition, forgin and domestic. Being an american also means having a choice.

ignoring the quality of the product and focusing on where it was made...

Hmms, doesn't sound much like capitalism, and more something like socialism. Buying like a socialist, now THAT'S unamerican.

No, I claim no allegiances when it comes to my firearms.
