Twice today... Dexy's Midnight Runners' Come On Eileen

Dear God, please allow me to someday be promoted to the position where I get to control the office background muzak satellite receiver.

+1

My stepmom used to love elevator music. I hated riding around with her (which I had to do ALL the time) because that was all she would play when we were in the car.

Yesterday, they had Mantovanni plays Madonna's Material Girl.

My ears bled.

Have you ever heard of Apocalyptica. Not quite elevator music but it's still an interesting spin on Metallica songs.

Or Richard Cheese. Popular rock and pop songs redone in lounge music. You might have heard one of his songs in the Dawn of the Dead remake.

The Girl From Ipanema...(It's the only one I know.)

So...here are some trivia points waiting to be scooped up:

What FAMOUS movie had the above music  in an elevator scene?

The Muzak version of "Panama" was pretty damn painful.

"Don't Fear the Reaper" was a dandy. IIRC it had zero cowbell.

The Girl From Ipanema

Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, each one she passes goes - ah

When she walks, she’s like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle
That when she passes, each one she passes goes - ooh

(ooh) but I watch her so sadly
How can I tell her I love her
Yes I would give my heart gladly
But each day, when she walks to the sea
She looks straight ahead, not at me

Tall, (and) tan, (and) young, (and) lovely
The girl from ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I smile - but she doesn’t see (doesn’t see)
(she just doesn’t see, she never sees me,...)

Personally, I like that elevator music.  Here in So. Calif(Los Angeles), there are zero stations that do elevator music.
