They even got him for possessing his sidearm while trafficking drugs. I bet that carries a bigger penalty than the drug charge itself. In this day and age wouldn't you take into consideration that other patrol cars just might possibly have cameras in them. Geesh, what a moron. On top of that he didn't even help the other officer, he just left. Good thing they thinned the herd of this guy, no telling what other crooked shit he was up to.

Ex-Border Patrol agent indicted on pot charge

Tucson Citizen

A former U.S. Border Patrol agent was indicted yesterday for attempting to smuggle marijuana by using one of his agency's pickups last month.

A federal grand jury yesterday indicted Michael Carlos Gonzalez, 33, of Vail on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of trafficking, according to a statement by the U.S. attorney.

A DPS canine unit pulled over a pickup truck on Highway 83 near Sonoita and two suspects fled. When the officer chased them, Gonzalez, who was an agent at the time of the incident, allegedly drove up in his Border Patrol truck, grabbed a 10.5 kilogram bale from the bed of the abandoned pickup, put the marijuana in his vehicle and drove off.

The DPS officer realized what happened only after reviewing the videotape that was running in his patrol car.

If convicted, Gonzalez could receive five years to life and a $500,000 fine.
