So I worked with this guy and went to school with him for a couple years.  Last week him and another guy (went to school with him also)  decided to rob a small party store in a little town.  A town you could spit across even when the wind is blowing at you.  Apparently he pistol-whipped the clerk and took money and 2 bottles of alc.  He then left and relized he had forgoten his I.d.  Went back to bet it only to get busted by the police.  I didnt think this guy was that dumb but I'm starting to wonder.....

Well, it looks like you can indeed quit wondering.

Back in the eighties, I worked with a guy that went home to Atlanta to visit family during his vacation. While he was down there, he was arrested for a murder he had commited five years earlier.

Use to give a fellow coworker a ride to work - hung out on weekends, etc.

Then he stabbed some guy 57 times in the parking lot of a Dennys.

How do you leave an ID at a robbery? It's not like you usually whip it out just before you rob someone, then just forget to pick it up afterwards.

When I worked at a market one of the Assistant Managers who had moved to a different store was the getaway car driver and his buddy did the inside stuff based on the AM/s knowledge.  But when he hit my market he sat in the getaway car where everybody could see him.

That reminds me of my cousin Nick. Sweetest guy in the world, but always in trouble for drug/alcohol related stuff.

In high school, he mad a "beer run" (went in to a store, grabbed a case, hauled ass for the door).  That pretty much always works once.

However,  Einstein saw that it worked and decided to do it again, and the second time ran ass over teakettle into the cop who had just pulled up to write the report for the first time he was there.

A high school friend whom I partied with after H.S. robbed a bank one summer with the help of some other people.  Worked real well until one of his accomplices got drunk about 6 months later in a bar and bragged how he had robbed a bank.  FBI came to town and arrested him and the accomplices and questioned many of our other friends as to their knowlege / involvement.  Fortunately, I was away at college when all this went down so I missed out on the joy of having a discussion with the fed.  I would have sworn this guy was smarter than that.  He had a good job.   Drove a BMW.  He was popular and had all the women he had time for.  Everything going for him but his brain.

A guy i grew up with took the wrong path and started smoking crack and all that good stuff.
One day he ran out of money and tryed to rob the nearest party store with a  plastic gun. The guy who was working fled iraq about to come here 20something years ago. He didnt take kindly to being robbed with a plastic gun. He proceds to hop over the counter and whoop crackers ass while his wife called the police. Cracker gets 5-15

Forward 5 years later- Hes out of prison and gets a job at the pizza place by his house. Starts smoking crack again. Runs out of money, gets a mask and trys TO ROB THE STORE HE WORKS AT. In the process of the robbery everything goes to hell. He called his boss by name, his boss says Jer is that you ? They get in a fight and his mask falls off. He was picked up a hour later at home. Hes currently awaiting trail. I know his parents pretty well, they spent almost everything they had on his defence

They guy who sits next to me at work has a brother who is incarcerated for robbing a bank.

Long story short, looses job and looses house...

Rents Ryder truck for week, lives in Ryder truck for a couple of monthes and doesn't return it, goes to Indiana, robs a bank in a small town in the middle of nowhere using the Ryder truck as a get away and starts to head down a little country road to make his way to the casino at the river.

Needless to say, it didn't take long for the police to find a big yellow truck driving down a country road in the middle of nowhere.

It didn't take long for them to find him guilty of bank robbery and auto theft (for not returning the truck).

We used to do something similar in High School except we would slap a $10 bill on the counter , haul ass with a case (Natural Light was like $8 a case and Busch was $8.50) and jump in the back of a truck waiting around the corner . Not stealing or robbing a store but I guess that is as close as I will ever get to doing such a thing

I had just started a new job at one of the digital print houses here in Houston.  My second day on the job, a half-dozen cops showed up and arrested one of the guys in the finishing department.  A year earlier, he had beaten his wife to death (he thought), took her out to a field and buried her.  The bastard put a 4'x8' sheet of 1/8" plexiglass over her when he filled in the hole so that her body wouldn't come up to the surface.

Apparently, she wasn't dead yet and the plex broke when he was filling in the hole.  Her body was found when some joggers saw a hand sticking up out of the ground.

As they were taking him out in handcuffs, the owner of the company was asking the cops, "When will he be back?  Will he be at work tomorrow?"  One of the cops started laughing and told him that we wouldn't see him again for a long, long time.

I've had numerous acquaintances who were/are criminals.  Let me see if I remember them all:

-drug dealer; busted
-airplane thief, busted
-rapist; busted
-robber; busted
-another robber; busted
-burgler X3; busted
-child molester; busted
-deserter/tax evader/fraudster; busted  (If anyone remembers "The Pilot Connection" during the heydey of the anti-tax movement, one of the principle characters was my immediate supervisor)

A rather impressive array of criminality around my workplace about fifteen years ago.  Most of my peers during my first enlistment never completed their contracts.

A guy I worked with helped his friend kill his grandmother to collect insurance.  They whacked her over the head with a frying pan, then pushed her down some stairs to make it look like she fell.  Though the cops found it unlikely that she could have crushed half her scull by falling down 10 steps.

I wish we had the death penalty here.

I know a guy whom when I first met had(early 80's in Florida) just got out of the joint after serving 10 years... He was in the import business...sorta. From what he told me he got caught flying a plane load of pot into the country. He used to have IFR/VFR single and twin engine ratings. I asked him what happened.. He told me that he had made a few runs before he got caught, (would'nt say how many) and this time everything was just fine, He came in, landed, he said he got to the end of the strip, turned the plane around and when he did , he said all these guys wearing black masks  came running out from the brush along the edges of the strip and they were all pointing M16's at him.. and hollering at him to shut the airplane down. I asked him Well, then what did you do? He said he looked at the fuel gauges real quick and saw he was just about out of gas..so, he just shut the engines off, and walked to the back of the plane and opened the door.. I'm sure he named some names to only get 10 years for that..

An enemy of mine from grade school was busted a few years ago for robbing a bank. He answered his cell phone in the middle of the stick up, and they showed the footage on tv.  "Holy shit!  I know that guy!"  I called the cops but the FBI had already caught him, less than 24 hours after the crime.  I guess they got cell phone providers to show their records about who answered their cell phone at exactly that moment, and ID'd him that way.  They busted him in a mall, probably using the GPS chip in the phone.  His name's Michael Moore BTW.
