I had several chances in the mid/late-80s and was literally pestered by a couple of people in the biz. I always turned down the offers but not for the reason most would think. The temptation was sooooo great, and the immediate rewards were so easy, but I declined because, well, I had a greater goal and knew if I were to appear in even one film my future would forever be tainted. Sometimes I think I should have done a couple just for the fast cash, but I will never hafe to worry about explaining the choice to participate to my family, friends or others. I'm not a "prude" and appreciate those in the industry as people with the ability to do it and not look back, but it was just not for me.
However, I do have a couple of "friends" from that time in my life I talk to once in a while and all are out of the biz, but they'll never be able to run for school board, or state senate, etc. I can.
