I have been buying South African .223 in a heavy rubber/plastic sealed pack. Will these store indefinetly? They are brass cases so no rust. I was going to keep them in my shop but the more I thought about it I have them in the house because of the temps here in Mich. Also what about storeing some wolf if I put it through a vacuum sealer. In the spring everything goes through a sweat as it warms up, you need to watch out for rust.

Thanks

I have been getting them at the gunshows here in Mich from Doug. I think I paid about $60 for a 300 round pack.

What about storing ammo in vacuum sealed bags?

$60 for 300 = $0.20 per round

That's a ripoff at that price

We bought at $0.10~11 per round.

For $0.20 a round, I'd buy something new

Ouch.
I paid $35 a pack for my last case (2700 rnds).
I saw them run to $45 and stopped buying at that price.

When did you buy it? He hasn't had that stuff for over a year. I remember his last case. He  kept telling me..."this is it, right here, the last of it." Then there was no more.

Chinook3,

Stop buying it.  You can buy new ammo for those prices.  While SA battlepacks are great for plinking, you should never trust it for anything but plinking.  It is old and you have no idea how long it was stored in hot weather.

I've shot a bunch of it and only had 1 bad primer out of 3,000 rounds.
