I'm going to see Pennywise tonight. I'm not necessarily a big fan, but somehow this is the 4th time I've seen them live.

Same for Social Distortion. I've seen them live probably 4 or 5 times, but don't own any of their albums. I some of it is from going to festivals like the Warped tour or whatever, but sometimes friends just drag you along. Is this unusual?

I've seen Social D as well, don't have their CDs.

I've seen Felix Da Housecat, own nada.

I saw Social D twice, still own nothing...

I saw Spiritualized, own nada (don't really care to after that show)

I saw SuperSuckers once, own nada (but my GF does - does that count?)

I've seen Lenny Kravitz (for free), own nothing...

I've seen Peter Gabriel, own nada

I've seen Neil Young, own nothing... (does CSN&Y count?)

I saw Prince on his most recent tour, and until that night, I owned nothing (yet they were giving away his new cd when you walked in the arena - so much for record sales - they gave out something like 20K copies that night here in Dallas).

This isn't counting the festival shows like Ozzfest/Tattoo the Earth/Texxas Jam

Lots of people do it.  I know several people who's hobby is going to concerts.  Big, small, they don't care.  It's a concert and they love the mob.

I've only been dragged to two concerts and count myself unlucky in that, neither was to a band who I had any intrest in.
