Hi everybody....

I'm having a problem with one of the gun forums I frequent. It seems there has been a recent outbreak of obvious troll-like activity. It ranges from seeking advice about breaking a law, to stating they have actually broken a law. These trolls also have very a low post
count (usually less than 10), which increases my belief that they are indeed trolls.

Usually I'd just let the trolls slip away unharmed, assuming that they'd just go away if ignored. But I've seen a lot of people keeping the threads alive by responding to the poster and actually take them seriously.

What should I do? Let them go, so they muck up the board, or should I go on 'troll patrol'?

Signed,
perplexed in punxatawny

Start a new Post and let them know that you  as the Mod, will be contacting and forwarding the post to the authorities (FBI, BATF, etc), for them to follow up and check on the IP address of the person posting and bragging about braking the law, they (the FBI, etc) could and can  track this person and start action against potential law breakers;  this should not be taken lightly buy you, you could get involved in a bad situation.
