I'm a bit of a packrat when it comes to old magazines. I've got boxes of old outdoor magazines (some as old as 15-16 years) in my shop. I've got stacks of them around the house. I know deep down that I will probably never read any of them again, but I just can't bring myself to throw them away. I fear that I might need a tiny tidbit of info that one of them contains.

I'm tempted to just trash everything. Anyone want 3 or 4 years worth of American Rifleman? The collector in me says to save them, but I know they won't be worth a damn thing in 40 years.

Sometimes I think magazines are just a waste of $$.

I do the same thing. I have 14 bankers boxes of magazines in the basement. They have made 3 moves with me so far, before that they were in a storage unit.

From time to time I do go and get a few of the older ones (late 70's early 80's) and read them again. it's fun to see what guns and accessories made it and what ones didn't.

Every once in a while the wife will say something about getting rid of them and I just have to remind her of her paperback book collection and she shuts up.

I go through them and tear out the pages of any articles I think I might use in the future.

I put the pages into clear page holders and put them into binders.

I do this mostly with articles in guitar magazines.

I have a couple years of old guitar, 4x4, and Guns N Ammo, mostly from the mid 90s untill 00. All stashed in my closet.

I also have every Motor Trend and Car & Driver for more than the last 10 years but no one is touching those!

I've sold some, but most of the time I tear the address label off and shred it and then recycle the rest of the magazines

I stack'em up by the shitter, then re-read them 1 page a day, the adds double as ass wiper in emergencies, as in forgeting to buy more angle soft, just don't use the slippery pages, they don't take shit off nobody.

Generally the pages all get stuck together after a few months, so I throw them out.

Rip my name/address off them, shred that, and recycle the magazines.

I used to keep them all. Now I only keep a very select few. (the G&A Presents ones (Book of the AR, 1911 and SureFire), mags with several interesting articles, and some Photoshop and Cinefex magazines.)

My wife put a stack of American Rifleman out for our garage sale last summer. They were one of the first things to go. Less clutter and $5 richer!

There are half a dozen career-related and gun magazines that I save. The rest I packrat til I get the urge to set them out for the recycling truck. Last time I set out about 6 years worth of playboys, and all work on the recycling truck came to a screeching halt as the workers stood by the roadside and went through every issue I'd set out. Wonder how many of THOSE actually made it to the recycling center.......

I throw most of mine out. But I think if I ever have the time, I'll scan my remaining ones cover to cover and put them into a .pdf.
