Read a good deal of Vonnegut, extremely good author...almost up there with Huxley, but hey Im weird.

 You must lead a very sheltered life if you can't read an author because they have a different political viewpoint. For example, Catch 22 (not Vonnegut) is wickedly anti-war but I consider it one of the better works of the 20th century. To each, their own, I guess. |

He's among my favorite authors, although his stuff from the mid-70s on is a pale reflection of his earlier works. No one blends the absurd and the profound together into multilayered ironies like he does.
And no, I wasn't an English major! |

As sheltered as I can get it, and I like it that way. I'll see your and raise you a  .The "liberal agenda" is crammed down our throats every day in more ways than I can name. With the exception of assignments specifically required for my degrees, I have consciously chosen not to read things that further it still nor to support such with my hard-earned money. I enjoy reading but I am very discriminating in what I spend my precious time on - I wouldn't purposely choose the writings of a socialist/humanist author any more than I would watch CNN or read the NYT for my news; I wouldn't spend a dime on one of Vonnegut's books any more than I would pay money to see a Michael Moore movie. YMMV, of course.

Breakfast of Champions is a great book condemming the French style of equality, bringing everyone else down to the level of the weakest or laziest.

+1 I have read Slaughter House Five and while it was short I found it to be a very well written and clever book. Its an anti-war novel mixed in with science fiction and though it pales in comparison to my beloved Catch-22 it is still a hell of a book. |

"Hocus Pocus" was fucking hilarious-read it while I was in the Army, and about half my MI company read it was well. In fact, it's the source of my call sign here.
