Everyone seems to freak out when I say I've never seen the films and that I have no
interest on warlocks, elves and other such goobers. Well, now the wife wants to see them.  How many movies are in the series and what is the proper sequence (by name) in which to watch them? Thanks...I think. |

Its a trilogy.....
Watch first, then 2nd, then the last.  The Fellowship of the Ring The Two Towers The Return of the King Its a VERY good series.... Dont know why you dont want to watch them, but thats your thing. The movies kick ass..... |

That website has more movie information than you'll need. I'm surprised there are people who haven't yet heard of it. The site comes in pretty handy more often than you'd think. Go to that site & type in "Lord of the Rings." |

Watch the Extended Editions if at all possible. The regular editions are far too rushed, and important plot info gets left out or cut short. The Extended Editions are essentially perfect.

I have a great suggestion for you.
Buy the books and read them. I only wish I could read them for the first time again. They are some of the best adventure books you will ever read. I am no "nerd". I've only read them about 8 times.  |

My wife and I did something similar. We bought the extended version Trilogy box set. Each 4-hour movie is divided up into two 2-hour discs, which equates to six 2-hour disks in the set. We watched one disc a night for six nights in a row. Nothing like 12 hours of LOTR!

Since you have until Thursday go to the library and read The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein first. It will introduce you to Frodo, Bilbo, Gandolf, Gollum, Elves, Orcs, Dwarves and the Ring from the beginning of the saga. Its a quick read and the place names will make more sense if you have the map in your mind plus the characters will make more sense when they do amazing or stupid things due to their nature and innate characteristics.
Once you've seen the movies go back and read the series. You'll not regret it and there are other books by the author in the same genre that you may find interesting. Have fun, don't rush through them and take a break in between to internalize the action and the dialogue. |

I wasn't very into it when it came out (actually wasn't into it at all), but my brother and dad both read the book and talked me into watching the 1st one when it came out on video. After that I went with them for the midnight premiere of the next 2 movies, which were so much better than the 1st.
Honestly, it is probably the best movie series I have ever seen. Very well put together. |

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!! I AGREE 100% with this idea.. READ the books! Iuf you dont have the time to read them. see if you can get the UNABRIDGED audio tapes from your library... It was so cool... 4xys2xxs lent me "The Hobbit" and from there I was hooked. |
