On this, the Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Day, I would like to share with you a few words from his historic speech given in 1963 from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a dream that my children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I share the Rev Dr King's dream; that one day maybe MY children can live in a nation where they are judged by the content of their character and NOT by the color of their skin. In a nation where they will never hear the words,

"You're a great officer, but we had to hire a lesser candidate because we've hired our quota of white males for the next 4 years."

Where we never hear, "You should have made Lieutenant, but they added 10 points to the winner's test becuase he/she is African/Asian/Native American, etc, so they got the promotion and not you, even though you were more qualified.

Where we never hear blatant bigotry disguised with liberal words like "Affirmitive Action"

A world where race-baiting and false accusations of racism are never again used to attack the speaker because the issues are irrefutable.

That we can someday truly live in a nation where a person IS judged by the content of their character and NOT by the color of their skin.

I share your dream, Dr King. May your dream live on and may your soul rest in peace.

Dr. King stood for wonderful things.

Too bad we have forgotten those things.

He wasn't a commie. Can you even imagine being black in his time? I would have resorted to far worse things than socialist leanings if I was treated like that becuase of my eye or hair color.

+1

And his "doctorate" was "earned" by submitting a plagiarized photocopy of somebody else's work.

Ever wonder why they like the close up shot of him giving his speech?

It might be that the long shot clearly shows nation-type "soldiers" standing behind him for security.

His words were fine - we have reached the plateau that he envisioned.  Equality is here - now we need to get them off the welfare dime and be real equals.

Yup, it was about as limiting socially as being white and male in these times.

Until things like minority quotas and affirmative action, bussing, etc. die as embarassing social tampering, equality even in MLK's terms is a joke.

Want to be treated as an equal? Start acting like it instead of murdering each other wholesale, living off the govt. tit and abandoning your families in squalor.

MLK had a great message, and his race ignored it.
