Pair jailed for ogling nude

GUY PATRICK
www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006020296,00.html
TWO council CCTV camera operators were jailed yesterday for spying on a woman in her bath.

Mark Summerton and Kevin Judge trained a street safety camera into her flat.

She was filmed cuddling her boyfriend before undressing, using the toilet, having a bath and watching TV dressed only in a towel.

The pictures, which were displayed on a giant plasma screen in Liverpool’s Sefton Council CCTV control room, included full frontal and rear nudity.

Dad Summerton, 37, admitted voyeurism and attempted voyeurism. He was sentenced to four months and three months imprisonment concurrently for each offence at Liverpool Crown Court. He must also sign the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Judge, 42, a married father, admitted misconduct but was cleared of voyeurism by a jury last month. He was jailed for two months.

Team leader Vincent Broderick, 52, admitted misconduct and was sentenced to 200 hours’ community service.

Judge Gerald Clifton told the three men: “To dismiss what was happening as laddish behaviour is absurd.

“You only have to read the statements of the lady to realise the harrowing effect that this had on her. Her life has almost been ruined, her self-confidence destroyed by the thought that prying eyes have entered her flat.”

The judge added: “At a time when you were supposed to be helping to guard the streets you were idling away the time, watching a wholly innocent woman engage in private acts.”

Just a matter of time before the band the written word.

There was a reason Farenheit 451 was set in the UK.

F451 was set in the US, you're thinking of 1984 that was set in the UK then called Airstrip One.

There is this new invention called curtains.  I believe they are placed over windows to prevent external viewing.

So she was just asking for it?
Don't forget, the view from the street might not have been as
advantageous as the view from a camera mounted two stories up

Yup, I bet she will be feeling much better AND she will start using those curtains

The same people who took away the right for law abiding citizens to own semiautomatic firearms and handguns.
The same ones who are now screaming about the danger of toy guns, airsoft and deactivated guns.

And the same people who are working on mandatory tracking devices for all civilian vehicles.

Might as well be a hamster in a cage.

She won't get a penny under UK law as there is no legal  'Right to Privacy'.

Technically that's correct, but no right to privacy isn't covered under this criminal act. She will most likely get compensation.

Same thing happened in Sweden during the cold war, the Swedish Navy had lots of surveilance cameraes in the Stockholm archipelago to detect Soviet subs. Guess what the operators looked at during the summer.

The good 'ol boys around here would just shoot the cameras.

Technically, I don't even live in a town - I live in a village. Last I counted, there's 10 houses, two churches, a cemetary and a recycling center. The guy repsonsible for monitoring the cameras would kill himself out of sheer boredom.
