Is the Norton bomb sight still classified?

[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Is the Norton bomb sight still classified?

Is there somewhere that one can view drawings or schematics of the sight? I'd like to learn more about it, like why it was so advanced over the enemy's.

I doubt it. I found one in a GI surplus junkyard in the late 80's.

I would like to see it, as I have heard of a Norden bombsight and Sperry bombsight, but never a Norton.

It was classified because it had an interface to the airplane's autopilot. The pilot turned over control at the initial point. The bombardier only had to input the bomb type, windage, and keep the crosshairs on target. The autopilot would fly the airplane to the release point.

My Great Grandmother used to make those bombsights during WWII.
