I read about both these people somewhere, but have since forgotten their names, I'd like to find their names again so I can read about them in more detail.

I can't remember the persons name, but there was a marksman once that shot a cigarette out of Archduke Ferdinand's mouth [only doing so because the Archduke demanded it]. If said marksman had missed, World War One might never have happend [or, at least, would have happened for different reasons].

There was also a British officer in the American revolutionary war that once lined up General George Washington in his sights at very close range  from a hidden position. He didn't fire his rifle, however, because he said it would have been ''ungentlemanly''. If he had, history might have been very different.

Anyone recall the names of these two people?

Dang it!  Annie Oakley missed the Kaiser and ruined a cigarette.  That young lady had a chance to prevent WW I, missed, and as they say, the rest is history!
