I am in favor of legal 1st trimester abortion BUT,
- Abortion should never be thought of as birth control - It should only be used after all other options are considered Aborting a fetus is nothing to celebrate. It is a time to realize that you have made some mistakes in your life and that you really need to change your behavior. |

Um, excuse me but you "kill" 10 times that much meat every time you eat a hamburger. It's not about killing living things at all is it? No. You think that tiny bit of meat has a human soul. That makes killing it murder, right? Your entire argument is not based on facts or science but feelings. On faith. I have to disagree. There are some women who become pregnant only to find out that carrying a child to full term will literally kill them. In such instances I believe the decision is entirely theirs. That is the ONLY case in which I support abortion as an option. And even then I don't like it one little bit. |

Let me get this right, in your mind a cow life is equal to a human life? No matter how you rationalize it, once a sperm and egg combine something is created that is neither wholely of the mother or wholely of this father. This "thing" divides and grows and is a zygote/fetus/baby. Seems pretty easily understood that the "combination" is a baby, or at least the living building blocks of a baby.
So pedophiles don't deserve my judgement? Murderers don't deserve my judgement? They are just wonderful people who shouldn't be judged by society, lets have that pedophile own and operate a day care center for children. If you had children you would have no problem having a pedophile babysit your child? I am intolerant of your tolerance. The rest is just basic drivel trying to demonize moral people. |

got to agree with that. everyone here gets in a uproar about banning guns! yes i am a cold hearted asshole. i rather see someone that screwed up abort (to a certain point of the pregnecy)the fetus than spend a life time miss treating and tax payers have to pay for the raising of it thru welfare. yes i know not all of the aborted fetus would end up on the welfare sysytem. it is her body to do as she wishes and not you or me to tell her other wise. |

I see your point, and I used to believe that, as well. IMHO an unborn child is no less important than a child that is born. A mother should be willing to give her life for her child regardless of whether the child is 6yrs old, 56 yrs old, or still in the womb. |

That is because from the foundation of this nation the right to own firearms was understood as essential to the retention of freedom, and that a person can own a firearm without killing anyone. Neither is true of abortion.
Pre-emptive capital punishment is not a solution to societal problems.
It isn't her body being mangled. It is the body of an entirely different human being. If a person wants to volunteer to have their skull opened with scissors and have their brains sucked out with a vaccum cleaner, by all means let them do so. I just don't think it proper to have someone do it to another person who is incapable of giving their consent to such. |

In fairness the word "amoral" can also be used to describe a person who does not care about the matter of right and wrong. (Which could also be described as evil...) Still, the most correct use of the word is to denote something devoid of moral content, i.e. eating that sandwich. Actually Dino, couldn't it be argued that both examples are of amorality? Did the sandwich eater kill the human being now in his/her sandwich? And merely watching one's enemies being impaled [on stakes?] is not, per se, immoral/evil unless he/she was actually the one who impaled them, isn't it?
