Even though they probably look new, 8 years is pretty old for a tire. The rubber starts to decompose as soon as they pop out from the factory - Ozone, sunlight, heat and cold etc. If it doesn't have cracks, it might still work alright. I wouldn't mount it in the front though.

It should be fine. I used the 12 year old donut spare on my Caravan for the first time this summer and it was fine. I drove on it for about 24 hours and no probs

i had an 88 blazer with the original tire on the spare when i sold it in 2001. used it a few times with no issues. if you have a factory wheel on the spare just include it in the tire rotations and forget about it.
