And they put Gaston on the line lol just kidding.

Anyway, those of you that have read this thread have the back story and know why I called.  For those of you who don't know and don't wanna read that much here's the cliff's notes.
I asserted in a  Glock kB thread that the reason you hear a lot more about Glock issues is that there are so many of them in circulation in the U.S.  Another guy claims that he thinks it's not true and asserts that there are more Ruger P-Series pistols in circulation, citing ATF figures of about 500k.  The ATF doesn't publish info on imported pistols so I had a lot of trouble getting the answer.  So I said that today I was gonna call Glock and I did.  Before I tell you the answer, let me tell you that Glocks webmaster sucks in fact, when I asked the rep the number before he told me, he said "don't pay attention to the website, it's way off"  I was concerned that I was going to have to admit defeat.

So he asks, US or worldwide circulation?  I say "just the U.S." and he says, I dunno exactly but roughly....
....."4 and a half million"

4.5 million Glock pistols in this country.   So it's all backed up.  If you want, call Glock's Smyrna office and verify 1-770-432-1202

Cause it's something I thought people might want to see that hadn't been interested in that specific thread,  it's got Glock and Kaboom in the title, so a lot of people stay away just to keep out of the BS.

Makes me want to see some 1911 sales figures but I figure that'd be just about impossible to compile.

But These glocks have all sold in the last 20 or so years.  That many 1911's selling ever is plausible, but NOT in the last 20 years.

Thats because PDs are not professional enought to own .45 cal 1911s. Just .40 Glocks.

actually the problem is that the P series owners cant get their pistols to function reliably enough to actually get to that one in a million overcharged factory round, or they are not using crap police issue training reloads.

I have personally seen more P series go down than all other pistols combined.

That's odd. My Ruger P94 .40 is over 7 years old. Not a single malfunction of any kind ever...not one failure to feed, not one failure to eject. Ammo type makes no diiference either.

While you were at it why didn't you ask them about their Kaboom rate, why they didn't take care of owners who had Kabooms, what the causes were(esp with their .40s) and what they were doing to resolve the problem?

I saw a 27 lose an extractor due to the lack of support in the chamber, so I know that the kaboom is real in the .40 S&W chambered Glocks.

And I won't own one in .40 S&W for that reason.

"98 out of 100 malfunctions were due to bad reloads and even though it states inside the owners manual and case, NOT TO USE RELOADS THAT IT VOIDS THE WARRANTY, they were fixed anyway."

Yeah, I own one (for almost 15 years) and know of more friends that have them.. many more than Glocks. I have never had a non-ammo FTF or a any FTE and the only problem I have ever heard of is a broken firing pin. Far and away more reliable and tough than Glock and no less ergonomic. Heavy as a brick though and I never did like the slide mounted safety/decocker. Glocks are good weapons but no magic wand.

Oh, BTW in before this thread tanks.

except for saturns. gm hasn't f-ed up that line.

would i buy another glock 9mm. hell no.

would I buy a glock 40 or .357?

No.

Would I buy a Glock 10mm.

HELL YES! gonna be my next pistol!

Do i believe glock 40s ka boom on occasion? I'm sure they do. Is it due to the glock design? maybe.
I just don't know. I'm not exactly a fan of .40. I just can't see the point in it. would i feel un or under armed with a .40. HELL NO! there are alot of people who like glock .40s and I know of atleast one guy who bagged a baddie with one. the gun and he did their jobs.

but you know what if it works for you and you shoot it well and like it and carry it I'm not going to knock it. I used to be in the "that gun/caliber sucks you should use this".

well let me tell you standing there being robbed and being unarmed is no fucking fun. BTDT this summer. I'd have sold my soul for an rg 32 revolver that night.

so quit bashing other peoples gun choices its pointless.

Anyone care to stand in front of my GLOCK and bet whether or not it will kaboom?

Personally I don't care for the Ruger pistols but I wouldn't want to stand in front of one either.

I kind of like that there are a lot of people that don't care for the GLOCKS.  That way I can keep buying used ones for cheap!  I've owned eight GLOCKS, carried an issued one for seven years, have sold five to people who simply couldn't live without them and have fired well over 50K rounds through them.  I've never had a problem, not one.  If someone can say the same about their Ruger pistol and they like it, by all means carry it.  It's all about what works for the individual.

Too much hatin' going on around here.  Just shoot whutcha brung and be happy about it.
