So how long did you date your girlfriend before you popped the big question?
About three months. We just knew...
Been married thirty three years in February. |
Three years, but I did give her a promise ring after three months. (I was so young.)
I dated a couple of dozen women across 11 years and ten different countries and four states.
I popped the question the Miss Right after dating her for 14 months. |
Do you see many second dates? |
Glock vs 1911? umm about 1 year after i joined this site. oh wait you ment something else. 4 years
It's like the old saying: 9 outta 10 times, you get kicked the nuts, but that 10th time makes it all worthwhile. |
6 months. Worked with her on and off for over a year before we started dating.
Just think of all that money that you will not be paying to lawyers. |
Dated 6 1/2 yrs, engaged 6mo, married 11yrs......
Seperated for 8 mo... |
2 years of dating. We were friends for about 2 years before that.
EPOCH |
Oh it must've been two years before i popped the big question...."When are you gogin to take the hint and leave?"
Dated on and off for 4 years, engaged nearly two years, married over six years.
Keeps getting better. |
I asked the morning after the first night she stayed at my place.
"Baby, I care about you so much, will you make me a sammich?" |
I'm embarressed to say now that I am divorced. 1 date, & then I gave her a ride home after church a few days later. I really screwed up because I didn't have a clue about heror what she was really like.
We were married about 9 months later, & married for 14 yrs & 10 days when she ran off with another man. She never made me extatic, but I feel I did love her & was commited to our marriage. I will never be so stupid again. Like I said it's imbaressing to admitt. |
For two months ,married 15 years !!! My wife and my kids ARE the BEST thing that EVER happend to me !!!
6 months...of course, we were engaged for a year and a half after that.
Friends since we were both in strollers
Didn't date until college Dated 3.5 years or so Engaged 17 months Married 1.5 years |
I'm seeing a common theme here. The guys who married within a few months of dating have been togather for a long time as apposed to those who dated till the cows came home. Any theories?
I'm on my 4th date, been talking for almost two months. Unfortunately she's two hours away. I think I'll know rather quickly if she's someone I'll pop the question to. We're both divorced (in our 30's) and have a LOT in common thus far. We both know what we're looking for. She's a sharp cookie, has a great career and is willing to have my children! |
Same here. Married five years this April. |
We've been married about 13 years and I STILL haven't asked her. Her Ex left her and moved out of state for several years and when he came back, they got a dissolution. We had lived together for a few years and she just started making all the wedding plans after the dissolution.
The first time, about two years, only she ran away before I got the chance to actually ask.
The second time, I'd only known her for about two or three weeks. |
My theory is that your theory is baseless. I proposed after two years. Our engagement was one year. We've been together for 14 years. |
I haven't talked to her since, so I don't know if there was a coke-fueled, cock-sucking rampage involved or not. But yeah, same kind of idea. |
3 years. lot of fucking good it did me. only added onto the 8 total years of wasted life.................
A very long time. We lived together for 8 years.
One day we were at the mall looking at bridal sets like we always do. "Do you like that set?" I asked casually. "Yeah, its nice." she says moving her hand around under the light to make the $1000 ring sparkle. "You want it?" She paused, stared at me with this blank look as the blood drained from her face. "Are you serious?" She asked "Yup." She practically threw the ring back at the clerk and drug me out of the store. "I thought you liked it?" I asked confused and I tried to keep my feet. "Noway, that things a peice of shit!" We ended up at Jareds after going to every store. $2700 later she was completely happy with the CUSTOM bridal set. Thats how it happened... We had talked about it alot and just decided to GO FOR IT! |
Geez, dont take it personally. I was only going by what I'd read so far. |
I can't believe its not been said, Mark_M is losing his touch
87years |
What question? |
In your case, "How long since the sex change operation?!" Hey that's what you get for being a wise ass. |
I don't think how long matters, what matters is to who and before you can figure out who it is you're in love with you have to figure out who you are and why you're attracted to this person.
My first husband I dated for 4 years before marriage. Being a woman is differen't [obviously] then a man. I was raised very victorian and my parents were not supportive of me at all. I stood at the alter saying "say no, say no, say no" but said yes and gave it a more than scouts try for 11 years. My husband now and I had been dating for 4 months before he asked me to marry him. I blew him off for 3 months and then accepted. We've been married for 9 years this month. The first 5 years were heavan sent. Then he had a horrible heart problem and depression for the last 4 years. It really tested our marriage. Now things are starting to get better. My illness hasn't helped things but we're managing, thankfully since he's pulling out of his depression. Anyway, not sure your point but you never know. Making a marriage work depends on two people. Not time, not money, not love. Patty |
I'm tuned into everything you said thus far, but I'm kinda at the "not love" part. |
Well I'm not expert mind you but I think love is relative to a lot of things. When the going gets rough and stays rough for a long period of time its no longer the love that keeps you committed to your marriage, its the love you had and want and the actual commitment and determination of the commitment that keeps you together. Not the warm fuzzy love you have when first married. |
OK, I got'cha. I know exactly what you're talking about now. |
Dated 3 months, love at first sight. Married 37 years Nov. of 2005.
Weird..... I sware that this question has popped up a few times since I've been on this board.... Heck, I might have started a thread oncE!
