Your own Neighborhood Arms Race. I can see it now: The family on the corner with 8 kids who can't afford a turret will stoop to bio weapons. A catapult full of ripe diapers. The old nosey lady across the street's house will sprout dozens of dish antennas overnight. Her cats will all be wearing small backpacks with tiny mag mount antennas. The Korean family next door will seem friendly, until you hear voices in your basement walls.

As I understand it, obsolete USSR tanks were dismantled and the turrets mounted on concrete bunkers along the border with China.

The Swiss today still use former MBT turrets as static points. It's a little easier for them, since the terrain is so channeling.

There you go, you could probably buy one off a group of crooked conscripts in siberia, then haul it across the bering strait and drive it back home. Only part that will suck is getting it through Canada, might wanna take a boat.

Germans did it with Panter turrets on the Gothic Line in Italy... VERY effective.

IIRC in the book "Panzer Battles", the author claims the Germans used turrets from knocked out tanks in this manner.
On the Eastern front, of course. |

The Syrians dug in old WW II German Pzkw IV tanks (the long barrel model) in stationary positions on the Golan Heights but the Israelis had no trouble taking them out in the '67 Six-Day War.
