Toho has said they're going back to the "mean Gojira" of the early '60's and that all the lame movies since never happened. So Godzilla: Final Wars is the sequel/remake of Destroy All Monsters. I got it off BitTorrent since it wasn't shown here in the USA. Not bad at all.
Now I'm waiting for the Gojira restored print DVD to be released. Someday. |

I know godzilla smashed up alota shit & kicked all kinds of monster ass...but WHAT was his purpose? I mean, in any of the flicks, was there some goal, or aim that was clear to us watching? You know, like eating atomic power plants or taking over the world?

Godzilla lives on the cot next to me in the B-hut. This guy stomps his feet, drags his feet and seems to just throw EVERYTHING around he can (I swear I see little japaneese people running on the floor when he walks). On top of that he has a what seems to be a FIRE TRUCK alarm clock. Now he has taken to listening to RAP music at 0500 on his headphones that seem to have speakers facing to the outside. Not to mention the activitys he does when he has these things on. He cant hear himself.
If you have ever lived in close quaters with 19 other people you know what I mean. Some people have no respect. |

Godzilla is two things. First, he is nuclear power incarnate, a terrible force that was unleashed on the world.. Second, he is a metaphor for America. Initially, he is a great destroyer. But in later movies, he became a protector, keeping Japan safe by fending off other monsters. Even as an ally, he is destructive, just as America and Japan's relations have been tumultuous. |

I like the movie where Godzilla was teaching his little kid to blow fire,but only little smoke rings came out.Some little Japanese kids befriends Gozilla's kid and the action ensues.

One summer, one of the "Big Three" networks showed some cheesy Godzilla movie........ hosted by Godzilla, who during breaks regaled us with reminiscences of his Hollywood days.
When they cut back in one break we saw Godzilla wearing Hollywood sunglasses, a loud shirt, and snacking on a reel of film. Made the cheesy movie bearable. |
