Hey Virginia is in the top 10 Due to good colleges like Virginia Tech
probably because 9 out of 10 illegal immigrants tested "no habla" |
California's near the bottom. Perhaps they need more socialism?
Illegal aliens. |

1. Vermont
2. Connecticut 3. Massachusetts 4. New Jersey 5. Maine 6. Minnesota 7. Virginia 8. Wisconsin 9. Montana 10. New York 11. Pennsylvania 12. Nebraska 13. Kansas 14. Iowa 15. New Hampshire 16. Rhode Island 17. Wyoming 18. South Dakota 19. Maryland 20. North Dakota 21. Missouri 22. North Carolina 23. Colorado 24. Texas 25. Delaware 26. Indiana 27. Michigan 28. Idaho 29. South Carolina 30. California 47. Nevada 48. New Mexico 49. Mississippi 50. Arizona I buy Nebraska being high up there, but I don't believe Texas should be that low...it's got to be the illegals down bringing the average down. HH |
No real surprises--
Edit: No real surprises except Wisconsin and Tennessee--I would have thought their positions would be reversed. <shrug> |
coming from site staff, not at all |
Huh? Site staff didn't compile that list, if that's what you are trying to say. |
WV number 34!Damn I must have been out of the state that day
I think he's calling you an AZ bashing Butt Monkey, but I'm not sure. Let's see if he comes back and clears this up for us. |
Vermont #1 and they have the best gun laws in the country.
Hmmm. |
States were graded on 21 factors, including student achievement and attendance, positive outcomes, strong student-teacher relationships.....
What the hell is a "positive outcome"? I love these quatifiable criteria. Sounds subjective without definition. "Strong student-teacher relationships"? Is that the criteria where a teacher screws her students? |
Haven't you heard? --I live my life thinking of ways to bash AZ. It consumes my every thought during every waking moment of my life. Anyone who has thoughts or ideas on ways I can further bash AZ are encouraged to pass them on to me. I guess I can only (seriously) say this must be one of those "if the shoe fits" kind of things, but I'll await his reply. |
I see at least 3 problems with the ranking system in a quick glance: #1--Define "positive outcomes"? #2--"Percentage of School Age kids in Public Schools"--does that take into account better private and home schooled kids? #3--"Student Achievement"--is that when Little Sally writes a paper on "My Two Moms" and has it published in the student newspaper? Awful lot of subjective criteria in there. And, finally--"Strong Student-Teacher Relationships"--does that mean the states where there are higher numbers of teachers banging students get ranked above other states? |
Vermont has smaller class sizes because its one of the least populated states in the country, it only stands to reason that that is the case.
As for being the "smartest".....I have my doubts on that. Met plenty of knitwits there in 49 years. It certainly has more communists than most other states save Massachusetts and Kommifornia. |
I would reeply with something witty ,but apparently we are tooo stupid for that..

We have a saying here.... "Thank God for Mississippi!"
"Thank God for Alaska, Louisiana, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Mississippi & Arizona!" is a mouthful. Besides, if we're only #43 I don't know if we can handle it. |
I can't believe Floriduh ranks that high. Can't even push a pin through a hole (like a round peg into a round hole).
Translation: "The Smartest State Award recognizes those states that most enthusiastically suck the dicks of the teacher's union and liberal special-interest groups." North Dakota is #20, even though students here routinely score high on all standardized tests? Please. |
I'm not surpised you're surprised. 32. Illinois |
It looks like all those yankees moving to Atlanta has brought Georgia down.
i was excited that AL wasn't last, the fact that we "Bammers" ranked over Kaliforniastan was icing on the cake
Shut up fib. Wisconsin: 8, Illinois 32. |
Edit:
Um, you probably already know what it means, but in case you don't, look up the meaning of "hung upon one's own petard." Reason: I was born in Wisconsin and lived the first twenty-three years of my life there. I speak from experience. |
Traitor! :P Actually I can't really speak much. My goal is to live in Chicago during the week and have a small house in rural Kenosha county with a private range to hang out in on the weekends. I guess I'll have to get a real job for that. |
So then the reason Wisconsin ranked in the top 10 is because you moved out? And the reason IL ranked so low is that you now live there? I'm just making sure that's what you are saying, because your statement reads that way to me. |
Think about it this way, even an enfeebled dimocrap senior citizen can push the pin through one punchcard, but lets say in the old time dimocrap tradition you have like 15 of those fuckers stacked one on top the other.Think that would make dimpled, pregnant and hanging chads more likely |
Of course it does. What I meant--I grew up there and lived there as an adult, so I am very familiar with the southern 1/3 of the state (where the vast majority of the people live). Wisconsin is every bit as liberal as any state you can name--including Illinois, Massachusets, New York and Cali. Large numbers of liberals and "smart" don't tend to go together. I have not spent time in most of Illinois--I just live here (center of the state) due to my job having moved me here two decades ago. Oh, my I.Q. is 135. |
I would like to note that Alaska's population is made up of about 80-90% transplants from other states, most notably MN. CA, OR, WA, and so on. Please stop sending up stupid people.
Hah!!!! You dadburned carpetbagging-comes-from-some-other-place-but- likes-tha-weather foriegner! I'm tired of tellin' ya how to fix that problem! Use a friggin' hammer! P.S. Florida's ranking due to transplanted foriegners! |
I think you're right--they have made your spelling completely FUBAR! |
Arkansas is number 37?! You mean to tell me that there are 13 states whose schools are WORSE than the one I attended!?
We're smack in the middle.... better than I thought we'd do
Virginia is number 7. West Virginia is number 34. That's just hilarious!!!! Still, any survey that says New Jersey is smarter than Virginia is horribly wrong. I lived in both places. Virginia is MUCH smarter than New Jersey. And any state that elected that psychopath Howard Dean cannot be eligible for number 1 status. |
Well under their socialist utopia they ought to be number 1, unless of course, it doesn't work..... |
Nahhh!!! That's due to my limited educational opportunities having been raised in AL, MS, OK, PR and FL. |
Where were you in NJ however? Some of the top colleges/businesses are located in NJ.. probably what helps raise the number. |
It is a shame the 40 tons of illegal alien shit stuffed into a 10 pound bag brought us down. Fucking A.
WooHoo! Being from Mississippi, I love it when we're not #1 or #50 on these kinda lists. Being 49 is sort of a small victory. Depending on the year we've claimed many titles:
Highest illiteracy rate Highest teen pregnancy rate Poorest state in the Union Our state capital often makes the top 10 most dangerous cities list (although I'm not sure about this year.) |
