Am posting a poll on another disaster for comparison with the TWA 800 poll.

Questions 3 through 5 clarification: "clearance" refers to a clearance relevant to the matter (directly involved or in a related field)

[#1]
please dont tell me that you're stupid enough to believe that the .gov blew up the towers

I believe nothing of the sort. Since there are hints that anyone who believes anything besides the official line on TWA800 is a conspiracy nut, thought it would be useful to post the same poll for 9/11, and compare the results.

Where's the option for "I have enough experience to know that 5 option polls don't work"?

It is all Al Gore's fault!

5 option polls do work, sort of (the totals and the first 4 options are correct, the correct # of votes for choice #5 can be back-calculated from the rest - the bar length does remain correct btw)

Example at the end of this thread

[#6]
5 choice polls don't work here.  When you vote for #4 or 5 a vote is added to both of them.

Link Posted: 12/31/2005 6:30:44 AM EDT
[#7]
The other poll does not reflect that (unequal totals for choices 4 and 5)

I could run a test poll, but have do go out and do some shopping first.

ETA: the poll just received a vote for #5, this is a good example:

[ 6 ]  I am a layman and I believe the official 9/11 commission findings  [ 75% ]
[ 0 ]  I am a layman and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 0% ]
[ 1 ]  I have a clearance/professional restrictions and I believe the official 9/11 commission findings  [ 12.5% ]
[ 0 ]  I have a clearance/prof. interest and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 0% ]
[ 0 ]  I have a clearance and am not permitted to voice an opinion on this matter  [ 0% ]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total Votes :: 8

Clearly the bar shows a registered vote for #5, and the total also reflects the "missing vote"

Totalling all the other choices (1 through 4) we have 7 votes, the total given is 8, and that confirms where the missing vote is (#5)

The corrected totals would read:

[ 6 ]  I am a layman and I believe the official 9/11 commission findings  [ 75% ]
[ 0 ]  I am a layman and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 0% ]
[ 1 ]  I have a clearance/professional restrictions and I believe the official 9/11 commission findings  [ 12.5% ]
[ 0 ]  I have a clearance/prof. interest and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 0% ]
[ 1 ]  I have a clearance and am not permitted to voice an opinion on this matter  [ 12.5% ]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total Votes :: 8

Now the votes cast, bar lengths and percentages (and their respective totals) all concur and are complete.

I don't have time to investigate every single conspiracy theory. But I've seen how 9/11 and moon hoax conspiracy theorists operate. Their specious reasoning, lack of technical knowledge, selective use of evidence and lack of critical thinking skills speak volumes. I'll rely on Occam's Razor and the professional opinion of the experts with regards to other conspiracy theories, unless something really extraordinary turns up.

 I have a clearance, Clarence

First it was the "pod/missile" on the bottom of the airliner heading into the WTC.

Then they switched it to seeing explosions from "planted detonations" that collapsed the towers.

Seems even the freakazoids can't get their stories straight - just like how the accuse the Gov't of changing stories.

= 9/11 conspiratorialists.

My concern with the 9/11 commission results is that there is a lot of evidence that the FBI and ohter agencies had stumbled into the 9/11 terrorists and were told by management to ignore it.

Outside of that, I don't see how anyone would believe that something other than four airliners were hijacked and crashed.  Thank God for Todd Beamer and the other passengers on the last flight.

That's just more government bureacracy and ineptitude than any conspiracy.  The damn government isn't efficient enough to create and cover up such a large conspiracy.  Anybody who would be able to do this would already be ruling their own country and have no fear of the US or anyone else.  Or they'd own a company that would make Midrosoft look like a mom and pop organisation.

[ 9 ]  I have a clearance/professional restrictions and I believe the official 9/11 commission findings  [ 12.5% ]
[ 6 ]  I have a clearance/prof. interest and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 8.33% ]

Ops,

Search "Able Danger."

Klinton told his attorneys to forbid the mil intel folks from alerting .Gov agencies about the threat.  Not the EXACT threat, though.

Hang on a sec and I'll get you a link.

Clinton had people on the ground in AStan who had traced Bin Laden and were ready to attack his compund and  wack him but he called them off as a Prince from some Arab country was staying with him. Then the Clinton Fuckwit bragged the US was tracking Bin Laden by his satphone and Bin Laden promptly dropped off the map.

Ultimately 9/11 was Clinton's fault.

OK, some comparisons (and the reason for this poll)

Totals for the 9/11 poll:

[ 60 ]  I am a layman and I believe the official 9/11 commission findings  [ 50% ]
[ 21 ]  I am a layman and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 17.5% ]
[ 15 ]  I have a clearance/professional restrictions and I believe the official 9/11 commission findings  [ 12.5% ]
[ 9 ]  I have a clearance/prof. interest and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 7.5% ]
[ 15 ]  I have a clearance and am not permitted to voice an opinion on this matter  [ 12.5% ]

Totals for the TWA 800 poll:

TWA 800 - do you believe the official story (fuel tank explosion) was the cause?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[ 20 ]  I am a layman and I believe the official NTSB findings  [ 18.35% ]
[ 61 ]  I am a layman and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 55.96% ]
[ 11 ]  I have a clearance/professional restrictions and I believe the official NTSB findings  [ 10.09% ]
[ 5 ]  I have a clearance/prof. interest and I believe there are enough questions to continue an inquiry  [ 4.59% ]
[ 12 ]  I have a clearance and am not permitted to voice an opinion on this matter  [ 11.01% ]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total Votes :: 109

The point of the entire exercise was to point out that there are far more folks who have issues with the .gov's story on TWA 800 than 9/11, and not that everyone who believes one is necessarily obsessed with conspiracies.

(There is also some other data which can be extracted from how the questions were worded, but we'll save that for next year)

Thanks to all who participated (and to those who might like to weigh in, but value & respect their clearance)
