Got ordaned with ULC to do my cousins wedding.  They wanted a nice wedding with very little religious overtone as one family was very religious, and my side isn't.

Pastor BenDover of the ULC here.

Funny thing is, I did it long before I converted to Christianity. I did it as a joke.

Kind of a whorthless organization IMHO.

People who declare there is no God, yet want to be a minister?

What's the point?

ULC Seminary http://www.ulcseminary.org/index.php

Question-is it more proper to list my occupation as

1)ordained minister
2)minister
3)clergy

I lost my ULC card when my wallet was stolen about 20 years ago, but I am definitely an Ordained Minister and Supreme Supervisor of the Church of the SubGenius.

To make money doing funerals, I mean weddings

Seriously, I did it to perform a marriage for friend of mine.  Never did it, but still have the stuff.

This(the above quote) is why the ULC is popular. You are allowed to believe to believe what ever you want. They know that people worship God in different ways. Some of us don't do it the way you do, is that bad?

ETA:
Yes I am a minister.

Ordained minister in the ULC, =POPE= of the Church of Eris, Pater Apicatus of the Chapeaurian Church, and High Priest of the United Andyist Congregation. I don't expect anybody to know what the last two are, because I kind of made them up.

Yes, because it allows one to make up whatever set of beliefs they want.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I should be glad it's not the 1700's. Otherwise I might get burned at the stake.

So has anyone here with the ULC found ways of getting deductions on your taxes or any other benefits I'm not thinking about?

Kind of like if you have a C&R license, you get a discount at Midway.

I've never performed a wedding. Do you need to take your credentials to the court clerks office and have them registered?

I got ordained a year ago to piss off one of my supervisors at work who was sending out a requirement to "advise the organisation of any special training or certificates you hold."  The guy is anal so I copied my certificate.
Some counties in MN regognize the ULC, some don't.  To do weddings here you have to pay the church $25. extra and get the extra paperwork and register with the county.
I wouldn't do a wedding becasue I hold clergy in high regard and dont' consider myself one.

Wow! I guess I'm part of an elite group.  Only 3 of us so far in churches other than ULC.
I've been ordained since '91 in the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.
