I ordered a pizza tonight and tipped the delivery guy $3.95
the bill was $11.05 and gave him $15 bucks |
at least 3 bucks, 5 most of the time. I worked pizza for a long time, these guys need the money.
He seemed alright with it. The place I always buy my pizza from does not deliver and was to lazy to drive there |
5 bucks or so. I know how hard they work for their money and some people do not tip worth shit.
Then since I usually tip well the places I order from know this and I get my stuff pretty quick too. |
I used to tip a couple bucks, then I figured out that Pizza Hut does not provide delivery free of charge so now I pick up.

ALWAYS tip the pizza guy! Even if it's only a couple of dollars. It adds up over the course of a night. I've been the pizza guy two different times in my life. Once in college and then again as a part time gig for extra money.
This reminds of the absolute worst night I had as a driver. I was in college in Nacogdoches, TX. (Gooooo 'Jacks!!) Anyway, I made about 30-40 runs that night and did not get a single tip all night. I wasn't doing anything different than I normally did. Just showed up, ON TIME, with the pizza but for some reason no one was tipping that night. After about 10-12 deliveries I was like "Ok, surely on my next trip I'll get something." Then after about 25 I was like "WHAT THE FUCK! Are the planets aligned against me or something?" Luckily the Pizza Hut I worked at also gave us $.75 per delivery so I didn't come home completely empty handed. Then there's the other nights where you bring home $80. Enough to buy a sack and head to the keg party and still have money left over for gas. Gotta have your priorities, right?? |

Sounds about right..... figure minimum of $3 for a pizza delivery. Now, if it is a huge order, like several pizzas or a bunch of sides or dinners....$5+ Check out tipthepizzaguy.com No Expert |

No tips for teh pizza man! Am I heartless? I just really don't think about it too often, although after an experience there, I'm sure I would never refuse or forget a tip.

My niece delivers pizza and she was telling me over Christmas that she was pumped when she ended up having to work Christmas eve that people felt sorry for her and were tipping her 5 bucks each. She says usually she'll get a buck or two tip.

Never less than $5. But my second job is in the service industry...

I usually tip 10% to 15%, depending on:
1.) Is my pizza hot? Cold pizza on delivery? It is going back. Luke warm? No tip. 2.) Did it arrive in a timely fashion? Within a few minutes of the estimated delivery, usual tip. 15 minutes or more late, no tip. 3.) Did they fuck up my order? Royally fucked and it's going back. Somewhat fucked and the tip gets reduced. 4.) Did I have to pay a delivery fee? Some places locally are charging up to $2 for delivery now. I reduce my tip accordingly. If that full $2 doesn't go to the driver, that is his problem to address with the pizza shop. If they are going to charge a delivery fee, then the guy doing the delivery should get ALL of that fee. If the shop keeps a portion of it, that is bullshit. It doesn't cost them anything extra to hand it to a driver or hand it to me standing there. Keeping part of that fee is just padding the bottom line. 5.) Courteous and well-presented? Good tip. If you look like you haven't taken a bath in weeks, I'm not likely to tip, nor order from that shop again! What really hacks me off is the trend lately for pizza shops that have no seating at all to charge delivery fees. I can see an actual restaurant, with seating and wait staff, to charge a delivery fee. It isn't their primary "go to business" strategy. But a pizza shop that exists solely as delivery and/or take out, that is a crock of shit! |

That's a standup tip, you did well. |

If Peak_Oil is complimenting you, then you have done something wrong. |

depends on how much I've had to drink and if the pizza was delivered on time.

At the very least $4.
I feel if I can't motivate myself to travel two damn blocks then they get the reward. |
Average around here was 2-3. I would also get an extra $1 for each delivery. Always put a smile on my face when I was sent away with $4 or more for multiple pizzas. Us college guys need the money

Had one guy that drove way out in the country where I live to deliver several pizzas to a party I was throwing at my place. He agreed on this at the promise of a very generous tip. Man was he friggin pissed off!!! |
So you didn't tip the driver anything , when you said you would |
Hopefully that was a poor and failed attempted at being funny. |
"13th topping" was the phrase at the local joint. A friend of my bro's worked there and told me to start tipping (even on my coupon $5 cheese) or he didn't know if he could stop retribution much longer.
Don't be surprised at what you get on your next order. |
lol i suppose if i ordered take out enough that would be a good reason. edit: then again that might be a good way to meet new and exciting people. |
I usually tip ~$10 or so.
My pizzas make it in under 20 minutes, every time. I've ordered and had a finished 3 pizza order in about 10 minutes once. I suspect they steal other customer's orders and route them to me because I tip well. |
$5.00 tip minimum drivers need to make money. It's not always their fault the food is late, so don't withhold the tip if your food isn't exactly on time.
Don't order pizza for delivery that much anymore but usually anywhere from $3.00-to $4.00
I tip them $2 max. There's no reason to pay for a job even an un-educated American teen can do.
$1 per box
2 pizzas and bread sticks = $3 4 pizzas + lasagna + bread sticks + salad = $7 |
$3-5, unless it's a really big order for a party or something.
That does it. I'm not tipping anymore becuase they are just gonna spend it on DOPE! |

This is funny, because we just ordered pizza last night. It's just 2 of us, so we get 1 pizza. I called a place that had recently sent out menus to our area stating "free delivery".
great. So, I call, and give my address. The woman on the other end says "Is this a small order? Cuz we delivered to that address before and the delivery guy said it was only one pizza. " I said "well, we've never ordered from you before, but there are only 2 of us, so YES it is only one pizza. A large pizza.". Nothing on the menu about a minimum order for delivery, either. I mean, what's up with that? Making me feel guilty about just ordering one pizza? It's either free delivery, or it's not. The bill came to 10.00, I gave the guy 15.00. But if she hadn't guilted me like that, I would have given him 2-3.00, because the pizza wasn't even hot when we got it. |
I had a pizza guy in Atlanta pick me up a 12 pack along with my pizza, i gave him a 20 for a tip.
Pizza delivery guys fall under the samr category as buffet waitress and a tip less than the customary 15-20% that do for full service. 10% seems right. For a single pie thats 1.50 or so. I'm glad others can afford to be more generous. |
I'll usually throw them about 2 bucks. I just don't see what good it does to throw them a big tip when I've never seen the same delivery guy/gal twice and I've ordered pizza at least 15 times from each of the local joints.
Dupe - we did this about 6 months ago when gas prices started soaring.
Uh oh, what years? Might've run into you. |
Nothing. Pizza delivery people tip me for the honor of providing me food.
$0.00
I believe the employee should negotiate his own rate with his employer. (oh, and "Not this shit again....") |
i always just round up to the nearest bill, and since i always get the 5-5-5 deal from domino's which comes to 17.12$ with tax and delivery fee, my tip is 2.88$.
No seriously, I usually tip service folks to the point that my wife asks me if Iv'e lost my mind or if I think Iv'e just hit the powerball or somthing sarcastic like that. Usually the recipient goes away with a smile on their face thanking me more than once. |
