Drop in auto sear. I dont see a serial # on that side but if he doesnt know what it is he might not know to look for the paper work.(If there is any.)
Did you email him? He asked if anyone knew what it was to email him. I'm not registered there so I couldnt. |

I suggest you take down this auction and asertain wether or not this was legally possesed by your father by a relative. If it was legally owned (registered with the ATF) then you have a piece worth several thousand dollars (upwards of 9,000). If illegal I can't help you in any way and I suggest you contact a legal service/law enforcement of some kind. Illegal possession of that coule be a 10,000$ fine and 10 years in prison if convicted. Drop in Auto Sear, an Auto sear from an M16, Rear sight, and a takedown pin. Possesion of an unregistered DIAS and an AR15 is constructive intent to own a machine gun. |

WooHoo! It's registered! I got an email back. They found a Form 4 along with the will in the safety deposit box. I'm getting it for $25 + shipping.
<--------Goes off to find a local FFL/SOT for the transfer  OK, I'm just joking. It would be a nice find though.

Good. It is actually possible he's legit and doesnt know any better. It's also possible that paperwork for that does exist in his father's files somewhere and he's sitting on a goldmine. I'd like to see a pic of the other side to see if it's serialed. I couldn't care less if it's an ATF sting. No sweat off my nuts. |

Certainly, I've owned guns for 30 years and been a cop for 20. If I was not into ARs I'd look at that thing and have absolutely no idea what it was. Even being into ARs had I not actually seen a registered one, I'd still have no idea what it was. |

I'm curious how this turns out... I imagine there are plenty of these "hidden treasures" to be found in deceased relatives belongings. Even the well educated gun owner wouldn't have a clue what a RDIAS looks like... |

The USGI autosear is not that big of a deal... Without the holes in the lower, and without the rear shelf clearence to install it, it will NEVER work. Even the most talented ATF tech official would have trouble making a gun run full auto using it. Even the drop-in unit would still need the rest of the full auto parts to make it work... If it has no serial numbers on it, then I'd say just toss it in the trash... End of problem. It's not illegal for a C3 Mfg to own it though.
