Yup they do it every day here at the factory!
I have even seen a guy here weld copper to aluminum! |

You may be thinking about brazing. You cannot weld disimilar metals together. |

Nope, not brazing. Its more of a melting.. I have seen it done, over and over!! |

Actually you can with specialized welding equipment. Ferrari welds aluminum bodies to steel frames and ship builders weld aluminum superstructures to steel hulls. |
