An M14 is hella expensive. M1A is about $1500 for a good one.

Building it yourself can be a chore if you dont have the right tools
Spend $2,000.00 and get a real good one LRB Arms |

Cheap and m14 don't go well together. Ditto what mrclean said but you could find a Polytec chinese copy for under a grand and it could be a good shooter with some upgrades.

What he said, have the money and do it right the first time. If you want a SA Inc gun Ive got a loaded in walnut stock that Ill part with for $1400, thatll get me close to a LRB of my own.

I am SERIOUSLY thinking of having an LRB, chrome lined barrel, Scout action made up for my Scout Squad and tossing an LRB onto my full size M1A......then both will be nearly pure GI, except for the Springie Muzzle Break on the Scout..... |

snipAR_15: From what I understand you need a fair amount of skill and tools to assemble an M14-type rifle. It is not like assembling an AR15 where you just put everything together and they pretty much work. You have to mill and machine for final assembly.

I got a NIB M1A Standard w/walnut stock for 1250 dollars at a gun show recently from a great dealer, whom I will be doing buisness with again in the near future. :)

I bought an LRB just before Christmas. I was almost worth the price just to talk to those yankee boys.
