I beleive that my cars headlight lens is made of lexan or some other plastic. I need to sand the pattern down in it for a project. So far I have been using 36 grit silicon carbide and it is working but it is taking a whole on my hands.

If there any other way to sand down the plastic that will be easier on my hands?

Belt sander ?  What do you mean ..."sand the pattern down in it " ?  Remove the ridges that help focus the light ? Or "buff" out scratches ?

This does not involve resurfacing it with colored plastic does it? BTW:  Where in Iraq are you allowed to have a car?

BMW has a reconditioner fluid and pads to do this exact job.

mouse detail sander

Which one?

I am sanding down the fluting on the lense. I am installing HID lamps and they need clear lenses, not fluted ones like I have now.

I am doing this now because I have plenty of free time over here in iraq. I am not allowed to have a POV over here but for a while our S-3 Maj had one till our BC found out.
